I was wondering if anyone could let me know the odds for being admitted to Boston College:

All Honors Classes, with some APs
National Honor Society
Ballet
Church youth group
Newspaper club
Key club
Camp Counselor
Volunteer work (food banks, etc.)
I also have a job (I've heard that some schools like that.....)
I was ranked 3rd out of 428 last year at a public hs
Haven't taken the SATs yet....
I'm also planning on applying early, and have visited the school before

I still have time, as I'm not a senior, but I would really appreciate anyone giving their honest opinion, or providing any advice! Thanks!!!!

Wow forgot more!
I’m taking precalc this year (sophomore) and am ahead (for the most part) in classes. GPA is 3.7. The only problem is that my hs…well…it sucks. Please chance!! This is really the only school I’ve ever wanted to go to…now I sound desperate, ha.

okayyy welllll you are only a soph and are on this site?
veryy niiice. you already have so much accomplished and you still have a couple years to go! Just keep your eye on the prize and stay in the mindset and you’ll be in a great poisition for BC.
Just dont be surprised if you find another college you love more senior year. it happened to me =)

My advice to you is to keep your grade up until you graduate, and when you apply early to BC, you should be able to get in. Good luck! BC’s a great school!

For Boston College you’re a good match. Just keep up your grades in your classes (I’m sure you will since you’re already thinking about college!) and try to become an officer in an EC you’re in that you really care about, it’s quality not quantity!

That’s the on regret I have about high school in not participating more and being part of a club I truly cared about.

Thanks for chancing me, I really do appreciate it! (Seeing you’re already dealing with the admissions process, it means a lot!) All the advice helps! Gotta stop stressing, lol

It’s hard to judge sophomore year, but if you are applying early, you will have a very strong chance if you have pretty high SATs (they want to secure the high scores for ranking/reporting purposes using the early decision pool).

3.7 would be on the low end of bc, to solidify your chances even if u brought it overall to a 3.75 or something like that it would help immensely because it would instantly make u better than a bunch of applicants. sats try to get over 1300 at least. good luck!

Ohmygosh-
didn’t make this clear, but my school does GPAs on a 4.0 scale!!! so 3.7 out of 4.0, not 6.0 (right? 6.0?) wow that would be so low…3.7 out of 6.0. sorry!!! and thanks!!!

As long as you challenge yourself academically, get good grades (straight As, if possible) your junior year, and get high test scores… it’s a match, for sure. :)
