Boston College Class of 2020 Regular Decision Thread

i think decisions might be today because they havent tweeted anything saying they aren’t?

An informed source tells me that decisions are being released today.

While they did tweet “No e-mails will be sent today” yesterday, the first part of that tweet was “We continue to finish up final #BC2020 decisions, and are working hard to send them by Friday.” So I’m not sure that NOT repeating “no emails today” means they’re coming today. If they are working hard to have them out by Friday, it leaves it very uncertain whether they would come out before Friday and suggests later in the week. Hopefully today, but it seems like Thursday or Friday is more likely.

@baltimoreguy , is your informed source a guidance counselor?

Interesting @baltimoreguy, not too far back in this thread, some said they talked with admissions on the phone and were told Thursday.

What I heard is that they are aware many Catholic high schools are off next week, making it a prime time for newly accepted students to come visit. So they are sending out decisions tonight to give families as much time as possible to plan a trip to campus next week, if they so choose. Again, this is second hand but comes from someone I trust who has a very close connection in the BC admissions office.

For what it’s worth, my daughter found out by email last year on the Thursday of the NCAA tournament, which would be tomorrow. I think it was late afternoon / early evening when she got the email. My son’s going through the process now. My daughter did not get in last year early decision or whatever it is called, but was accepted regular decision. I had really wanted her to go to Notre Dame (where I went), and the decision came down to Michigan, ND, UVA, Middlebury, and BC. All great schools. Ultimately she chose BC for it’s size (not too big, not too small) and location (Boston / city). She just really loved Boston and wanted to be near a city. So far she has loved the school, her classes have been challenging, etc. As a parent, we’ve been really impressed with the school. My daughter’s done a lot of volunteer work and that seems to be the norm there. She also loves Boston and the surrounding area. The football team stinks, so she’s quickly become a fan of the hockey teams there. Good luck everyone.

@baltimoreguy so it will most likely be tonight?

what time have they been released before?

The admissions office also tweeted: “All decisions will be released in a four-hour window, outside school hours.”

@helpplss 6-10 pm

they just tweeted no emails today

Well, we have an answer for today. They just tweeted: “No #BC2020 e-mails today. We know how eager you are, but more time is needed to prepare to send 23,000+ decisions.”

No decision today according to Twitter.

Just saw the no email tweet… Guess Thursday is the day

Bet it’s tomorrow

I wonder what that means? Does it mean the physical task of loading emails and their corresponding decisions or does that mean that they are still evaluating candidates at this late date? Are they removing people who have withdrawn applications and filling their spots? I’m just curious about the process and what the scramble is at this time so they can’t give an exact day for the decisions.

@masterchef Don’t over examine it. It’s just going to come out tomorrow :wink: don’t worry

@harvard2020babe I’m not worrying one bit. I’m just very curious. I have some interest in pursuing this as a career path. So, it’s not over examining anything it’s pondering what it’s like for them. I would imagine it’s stressful for them as well. You can’t tell me you’re not curious as to why they can’t give an exact date.
