You have good EC and a solid GPA but the SAT is going to hurt your chances. I would recommend retaking your ACT’s.

Adding to this thread

Background: I applied early action to Boston College and right now it’s my #1 choice. I applied as a finance major in the Carroll business/management school. I am a white female from Delaware.

My SAT is a 1410, (730 CR, 680 math). My SAT essay score was a 23/24.

My GPA weighted is a 4.25 and unweighted it is a 3.9. I have taken 6 APs (Stat, Macro, Micro, APUSH, Psych, and Gov). So far, I’ve gotten 4’s and 5’s on all of my AP exams. My school doesn’t offer that many/they fill up really quickly.

This is a basic list of my extracurriculars:
varsity rower for 3 years and captain of the rowing team, national honor society member, internship with our state senator, internship at a bank over the summer, member of our schools service related club for 4 years, peer tutor at an inner-city school, Girl Scout, started a backpack drive for under-privileged students, member of my school’s mentor program, etc

I got very strong recommendations from my English teacher and my Spanish teacher. I believe the essays I submitted were well written and personal.

Good luck to everyone! BC is awesome!!!

should we hear back by December 15th?

@pbfn875 I think BC’s website said by Dec. 20

@pbfn875 They sent an email saying that the exact date would be released the week of Dec 10

@myfuture - Wow. Earlier than I thought. Can you share the text of the email?

The email said, “Early Action decisions will be emailed during the week of December 17; the specific date on which we will release decisions will be shared with you via email during the week of December 10, so please check your email at that time.”

Can someone please share what their portal looks like? Does it change to “application complete”? Or does it remain with the list of required documents and the dates submitted? I don’t believe my daughter received the email referenced in post #10 (about when decisions will be emailed) even though she applied EA. Did everyone who applied EA receive one?
Any help is appreciated.

@Renelle my son received his email quite awhile ago, maybe after his file was complete? I’m not sure, but early to mid November. I haven’t seen the portal so I don’t know what his looks like now, sorry!

@Renelle, Portal looks the same as it always has (required documents and dates submitted). I received the email with subject heading “Your Application is Complete” on Nov. 20, but the look of the portal has not changed.

@RFM1617 Thank You so much! My daughter was able to quickly find the email with the information you provided which was a big relief.

When do y’all think decisions are going to be released by? Last year was the 14th I think

I am almost positive it was the Friday last year equivalent to the 14th Check the last years ea thread. It will be the same day barring any glitch.
