Boston College Class of 2024

Daughter received her acceptance this evening. So happy. CSOM. Rigorous classes & AP’s. Weighted avg. 95. Her HS does not rank. Top Long Island HS that sends kids to BC every year. SAT 1480 (760math). Good but not great EC’s & volunteering. Legacy, but not many donations…paying our own tuition bills for sibs!

Deferred 1400 3.8ish standout ec and essay.
Captain of three varsity teams
Community service
Political position
Ect
Any ideas on my possibility of acceptance and when it could be?

My son too. wondering same. very similar stats I posted on the other thread. What school inside BC did you apply too? (Our dog’s name is Goose, and he literally was “on the loose” on Thanksgiving day and I was chasing down the street with turkey to catch him. chin up! Stay hopeful.

House boats…not a bad idea.

@GooseOnTheLoose and @maddy23 which colleges did you guys apply to? Was it CSOM?

MCAS

My Son was accepted ED1 at BC last night. He applied to the liberal arts college.

Just to let people compare:

1440 SAT
GPA 92.5% (weighted)
9 Honors/AP classes (one of the best prep-schools in the mid-Atlantic region)
9 Varsity letters (XC, Indoor and Outdoor Track)
Editor on the student newspaper
Civic volunteer work at a Jesuit charity

On the deferral question, we really have no idea what the percentages will be this year. Last year (with EA not ED admission program) 29% of EA applicants were admitted EA, about 40 percent deferred, 30 % rejected. Admission rate for RD applicants (which included deferred EA applicant group) last year was about 26%. Last year, an admissions officer told me the percentage of EA applicants who are deferred but ultimately admitted (in the RD pool) was typically 15-18%. However, things may be very different this year with ED 1 and ED 2 programs changing yield dynamics.

this college process is not fun

Hi all. I wonder if @Luckyjade2024 other school is here?

Hope this helps students and families get a sense of your lists and potential classmates. Good luck!

Could someone tell me my chances of getting accepted? I’m applying ED2 and I’ve been obsessively looking at the stats of those who got accepted ED1.

I know that the nursing school is very selective because of how small it is, but I would really like an opinion because I’m super nervous haha. Thx!

Also I’ve been curious about how ethnicity affects acceptance. I’m half white half Filipino, and I know that Asians are often less likely to be accepted. However, those are usually Chinese, Korean, Indian, etc, but I’m still unsure if I should even put down that I’m part Asian, knowing that it might negatively affect my acceptance.

@Anastasiah there was 1 -2 recent posters who’s stats were similar to yours and they were accepted ED1. (Skim the various topics for their posts) On the basis of that, I’d say you are right in the mix. Good luck.

Chance me!

As a freshman with celiac disease, I feel that it’s my duty to tell you all that being gluten free here is impossible. The only thing you will ever eat is chicken and two sides or a salad with pre packaged dressings - both of which you will guaranteed have cross contamination or at least SOME WAY that gluten has made it into your food. I never got sick while I was in high school, however here as i concludes my first semester i am sick for the fourth time since coming here. I know there are other factors contributing to this however i know that food is a large part of what dictates your health and mine has severely declined since coming here. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere with staff that are more understanding/receptive to concerns or where you don’t have to eat the same thing everyday that tastes disgusting and will make you gain weight. I wish I went to Boston University where they have a designated gluten free meal station that is changed every day (and doesn’t just serve oily sad vegetables with rice that tastes like it came out of a microwaveable neck pillow and sad hormone-filled chicken breasts) and they also have a swipe in policy where onto students that have been granted access to it, can enter.

.

As a freshman, you’re not even finished with your 1st semester. If you believe your health will be appreciably better by going to another college, I suggest you transfer.

That’s too bad. That’s worth someone reaching out to the administration.
