@cigs1inside yes they are. Most schools, especially the stronger ones I think, are more selective EA because they are really doing you the favor by letting you know early yet you don’t have to reply until 5/1. Many schools point blank tell students to only apply EA if they are towards the top of their applicant pool because the EA spots are reserved for the strongest candidates. If you are a borderline candidate, you also run the risk of getting rejected and not deferred (at the schools that do this, which I believe BC is one of) so it can be best to wait for RD.
Some schools use the earlier deadline as a priority deadline and at those schools it might be better to apply early…lI think a lot of the state schools fall into this category…UNC, UVA, U Mich, Maryland, Penn State…
Hello everyone, ea applicant for international relations
What time of day do you reckon the decisions will be emailed on the 14th?
Also when do notifications go out to admitted students if they’re among the very few merit candidates?
@syd24ranger I looked at last year’s thread and it looks like 6pm EST. But it also looks like it varied by region.
My daughter received her acceptance letter at 6:22 PM last year on Thursday the 15th. It mentions honors in the acceptance. If I remember correctly, the letters went out in waves and the rejections and deferrals may have gone out a bit earlier but I think everything was after 5 pm. As for the Gabelli winners…it’s either mentioned in the letter or within a few days of the letter. My daughter did not get it but I think that’s what I heard.
Thank you for the help!! Really psyched for Thursday as bc is one of my top if not top choices. @collegemomjam
Hi everyone, has BC downloaded any of your FAFSAs yet?
@hemingways how would we know that? And does it mean anything?
@aleg I’m not sure if it means anything. It says it on the Agora Portal. And I was just checking because I thought that they weren’t suppose to be downloaded until February, assuming we get in. I don’t think it’s a big deal, I just noticed the change online.
I don’t see that on my portal. Is it on the main page?
https://www.bc.edu/offices/stserv/financial/finaid/undergrad/applying_for_aid/checkyourstatus/prospectivestudents.html
Visit that website and it’ll give you instructions on how to view the status of your financial aid documents.
@aleg ^ @bonanox82 beat me to it. But yes, it’s that.
Is your fafsa downloaded by BC as well?
@hemingways @bonanox82 it shows 2018/2019, and then I click in there. Is this what you guys are seeing??
@hemingways it is asking for the Eagle ID but I don’t know that I have that. How did you get yours?
Yes @aleg that’s what I did
NVM found it
@hemingways @bigchoices2018 I went to the Boston College this summer for a camp that’s how I have my Eagle ID. Does this mean anything if the financial aid thing is there?
