Her stats were where they needed to be. Top 10% at a public HS that does send kids to BC. Rigorous schedule. 34 ACT. Solid (but not spectacular) EC’s. Probably better than average LOR’s. Essays - who knows? Sorry you got deferred, but with your stats, you are sure to wind up someplace good, whether it’s BC or another school.

Freshman here who got deferred last year and got accepted RD. The best thing is to send a letter of continued interest to your admissions counselor.

Congrats to those admitted and congrats to those deffered as well. It’s a big step to keep you in the running like a wait list but with more spots available.

To those denied it’s no indication of your success as a student or as a person. It can be fairly arbitrary at times. The school you choose in the end will eventually seem like the best school on the planet and you’ll wear your gear with pride !

Some of the admitted confirms my a rule of thumb the top ten percent or very near of your class and appropriate rigor for the school you attend, is a big deal at bc. Also the ability to express how you fit the community and Jesuit goals of the total person concept.

Congrats to all and many deferred will get good news in March.

Just treat your deferral like a wait list. Contact ao with important updates a few times and briefly Signify your continuing interest.

And keep your grades up.

I would add that indicating clearly that BC remains your first choice (so long as that’s true) is advisable when you send the letter of continuing interest. Yield matters. Asking your college counselor to talk with your BC admissions officer to try and get some feedback on your application is worth a try—some are more forthcoming that others. And your counselor can help reinforce your commitment to BC despite the deferral and perhaps highlight any new, positive information.

Thank you very much for your thoughts. Very much appreciated.

excited to share that my daughter was accepted to MCAS! 4.2 GPA She decided to go TO(She was a little below the 50% SAT range from last year) her high school counselor reached out to the admissions rep to ask his opinion if she submit submit her scores …at first he suggested she go to the ED 2 round but her counselor asked if it would be helpful to go to ED1 and submit midterm grades… she has strong grades in. all her AP courses right now and has strong ECs.

Congratulations to everyone who was accepted in ED cycle. Anyone here knows when the Boston College’s decision for EA comes out. My D has applied as EA.

In that case she must have applied RD. My daughter did all her submissions independently.
Mom was only useful when credit card was needed. All she told me was she was not applying ED to any of the schools. I just assumed she was EA at all the schools on her list.
So when do we hear decisions on RD? February timeframe?

Lol. That’s a common occurrence in the real world. I didnt see a word of the applications. But I get to pay all the bills too.

On CC not being super involved (and helpful generally) not so much.

I think it’s usually March. I’m not 100% sure about this though. Does anyone else know?
