@200287791 I got in with similar extracurriculars and my sat/GPA was a little bit higher than yours. I would say that in order to be really competitive, I would aim for a higher SAT than that, but everything else looks good in combination (assuming that your 3.97 is an UW GPA). You can direct message me if you have more questions or want more details on my stats.
@200287791 I was accepted with a 30 ACT (which is about equal to your SAT) and a 3.9 unweighted. I had less APs than you for junior year, but my course load this year was 3 APs and 2 IBs, so pretty similar. You seem to have a lot of leadership positions which surely makes you a strong candidate. I’m almost positive you’d receive acceptance, at least if it were up to me
Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get off the waitlist if one were to get off? I was waitlisted at CSOM.
@hemingways @camusandbirds Ok great! Thanks for your insight. (and yes that 3.97 is UW GPA)
Hi I was waitlisted and now I’m accepting my place on the waitlist. It’s asking for my eagle ID number but I don’t know what that is.
@clvmsy you should have gotten your Eagle ID number in an email when your application was received, the same one with info on how to set up your Agora Portal
Accepted A+S
Gpa(w) - 4.2
ACT (one sitting) - 35
President of 2 clubs, member of 2 others
2 sport varsity athlete
4 year summer job/internship, and had a high position in a nonprofit for 3 years
Solid recs and essays
@200287791 My daughter is a current freshman. Her SAT was 1340 (or 1360?), GPA 3.7 UW, took two APs senior year and was a club athlete, had 2 school clubs and was in the NHS.
I’ll assume she had great recs
I’d say it’s likely her club sport (she was at a high level) prob showed dedication and determination.
I also think that the essay and supplement make a difference. My daughter spoke from the heart, it was edited but not overly polished and full of cliches. I’m no college admission counselor, however I truly believe that they can read through the BS……be yourself. I think my daughter was helped by being herself, not going overboard joining too many clubs just to put them on her resume and at the end of the day, she got some great acceptances, including BC which was her top choice!
Good luck!!
Hey guys, I was accepted, but am a little concerned about the cost. The admission package says it costs about 73k per year, without aid. What is the likelihood of getting aid (I haven’t gotten any need based aid from any of the schools I applied to… family is well off). Can anybody else who is either attending or been in this situation received any aid at all? I might have to rule Boston College out without it.
@gnarly11 Did you run the Net Price Calculator from BC’s website? You could have done so last fall and saved yourself the trouble of applying if the estimated net price is unaffordable for you.
Rejected from Morrissey after being deferred EA
34 ACT, 4.31 gpa
6 APs + all honors/advanced classes
NHS officer
4 year Varsity Athlete, 2 year captain
Lots of other ecs as well
Not really sure what went wrong…Frustrating to see people with lower stats getting in while I don’t. Any ideas of what went wrong?
Sorry you weren’t admitted - you are certainly academically qualified. Admissions are a bit if a crapshoot. You just weren’t on the winning side if this one. I hope you have other great options!
@abcde098 you think it might have been the essay?? What did you put as your intended major?
@gnarly11 If your family is “very well off” then they are expected to pay the full cost. BC gives need based aid only except for the Gabelli scholarships which you did not receive.
does anyone know when the deposit for BC is due? I can’t seem to find the deadline on the website…
Probably May 1st since that’s when most (if not all) college decisions need to be made by.
@greekguy1273 There is a weekend program for AHANA students that you might like to go to. You will get an invite. I don’t recall when it is as my daughter couldn’t go that weekend.
@keepmecruisin are you a current BC student or a parent? My daughter is a current freshman on Newton. She was thrilled to get Vandy for next year in an 8 man. She has 3 years of housing and I’ve heard they need to secure a ‘good place’ in like October!! She knows a few kids who appealed and were able to live on campus Jr year (Comm Ave bldg…forget the number) In the perfect world she will appeal and be given housing for jr year! Or be an RA! Though she would not go back to Newton!!
@hamiltondebater there are tons of off campus apartments either walking distance or campus shuttle.
@Sweetcookie18 so where are you going?
