@swampmoonster- Sorry to hear that. Frankly it annoys me that talented students like you are being rejected or wait-listed while others are getting in. Sucks for a lot of reasons.
Because a school wants all different types of kids from all different types of background!
this goes to show that its not just by your grades and they really mean it when they say holistic approach @bbfan1927
Accepted OOS Management School!!! Good luck to all the other applicants via waitlist or other schools!!
36 ACT
4.0/4.0 GPA
Yeah you don’t know their life circumstances, what their essays were like, extracurriculars etc. with just a post about gpa and sat score.
Getting accepted to CSOM with a 31 ACT and a 3.65 GPA makes me scratch my head…sorry if it offends.
@HiToWaMom Really? Is it that or something else? I bet something else.
Stop focusing on others. Focus on you!
Accepted from SoCal!!! ???
Morrissey- Poli Sci
4.7 W GPA, 3.8 UW
34 ACT
Senior Class President, National French Honors Society Pres., National Social Studies Honors Society Pres., etc.
Hope everyone ends up at the school best for them!
@bbfan1927 all the accepted have been awesome. High gpas. Captains and clsss presidents. Don’t worry. We don’t see the whole package. A 1560 sat and 3.5 with meh recommendations and ecs aren’t competitive. We only see one stat.
We don’t even know if these are all true. And schools need coxswains for crew too. The international student only posted an sat score. They could be remarkable. Or the son of a national leader or from a war torn society. We don’t know. Give them a high five for beating the odds.
David Hogg is in at Harvard with 3.6 and 1260 sat. They saw something.
The kids being accepted congrats. Wl or not accepted. You have much to be proud of and 35k applicants for 2100 or seats. You’ll be fine. Trust me.
accepted to College of Arts and Sciences!!
1510 SAT
4.18 W GPA
Scores and grades are not everything. For all rejected or waitlisted with amazing stats I’m so sorry and I know it stings when you’ve worked so hard. Hold your heads up because you have accomplished so much already and there will be another school that may just turn out to be a better fit for you. Congratulations to all admitted so far!
Bbfan, multitude of reasons. Demonstrated interest (opening emails even), diversity of background, essays, etc. they need to manage their yield and will accept kids they either really really want to come (kid from North Dakota) or a kid they really really believe has a high chance of enrolling. It’s a way they manage image. I’ve heard of kids denied from a BC and offered at Ivy. Might also be bc the Ivy League kid less likely to accept bc which offers little to no merit money…
@HiToWaMom. Sorry but I am a student here @ BC. I have friends and family who I am concerned about and I have standing on both counts to comment.
Waitlisted NY
1480 SAT
94.22 UW GPA
Mostly AP/Honors courses
Good ECs, letter of rec from an attorney I interned with for a summer
Dissapointed because it was my top choice
And I know from our perspective it all looks like a crapshoot. It’s not. These schools know which kids are more likely to accept, which kids perform well once there, and which kids they need to add varying perspective to their student body.
Anyone still waiting?
@privatebanker, Understood. That said, my roommates brother was waited-listed CSOM with amazing stats. So, the mood here is pretty somber and I guess it’s obvious in my posts.
lulu rat:
Small nit, but BC does not use Demonstrated Interest. Your main point is still correct, however.
Congrats to all of the new Eagles, and welcome to Chestnut Hill!
