Daughter waitlisted after EA deferral, 1550 SAT (one time, not superscore), 3.85 UW GPA, tons of leadership/ECs/sports, APs and honors classes. According to the counselor, her recs were amazing, both by teachers who knew her all four years. She’s so devastated, this was one of two top schools and she was waitlisted from her other one. So confused by this whole process. Honestly, I regret that she worked so hard in HS because it is definitely not paying off in terms of college admissions.
@bbfan1927 CSOM is crazy tough. Hope you are doing well in school. Sorry for roommates brother. It stings for sure. But some people do get off of Wl too.

It was my top choice, so I’m pretty disappointed.
@calimami - I feel her pain and yours and others. One thing is for sure, you can’t fluff a 1550 SAT score. She is a bright student- she should be proud of herself and you as well.

So I guess I’m going to end up going to my safeties?? Kinda feels like a waste to have tried as hard as I did; it really isn’t panning out well for me with admissions. Yikes this feels ick even though I know its a crapshoot but I foolishly didn’t expect this much rejection
@sammiedredge…I dont get it.
Any NMF on here? I know BC participates but my S did not list them as first choice. Does he still go into the 2nd round if he chooses BC?
(Four other AP classes I didn’t submit scores for)
@college17013 You sound like my d. She’s also a dancer (and I wonder maybe that’s not impressive to AO but it really is quite impressive) and worked super hard for her grades (and they’re great)… and appears she will go to safety school as well. Seems like wasted effort
@CaliMama1 Sorry to hear that. It sounds remarkable familiar to my house last year. But it’s not a no. Chin up!
And anyone waitlisted. Please connect with @BCBoundMaybe
Great kid and a great story. Was literally one of the very last students accepted off Wl. On June 4th or so. Had accepted to another school. He knows how to approach this. Just my advice.
Daughter accepted from MA. ACT 33, Unweighted GPA 4.1. 2-sport captain, class officer, club president. Lots of APs and EC
@college17013 sorry, that stings. You sound smart, talented and interesting. Please know that it all works out.
@CaliMama1: take heart. If she can achieve those things, she is going to succeed somewhere. Name-brand colleges are not the be-all and end-all. Frankly, I think they’ve seriously diluted their brands by basing admissions on non-academic criteria – to the point that I no longer consider the name brand when hiring someone…
All those efforts weren’t for nothing! Working hard toward something became part of who they are. And that’s a great character trait to be proud of.
@Clairenola Well, granted I don’t know if they take caliber of dance institution into consideration at all but I know several people from the places I was at who were accepted to schools like Harvard and Columbia so I’m not sure that’s it. Best of luck to you guys!
