Boston College RD 2023

I also called and asked. They said an email will be going out today to all who received to clarify

Just got the email! It says that I’ll be admitted when decisions are sent out next month and also acknowledges that I’m missing FA forms. (Should also mention that I got the unofficial email from the FA office yesterday that other commenters mention above)

Given that BC requires tax returns mailed hard copy, is it worth it to go through the trouble if you don’t expect to receive aid?

@VACrew Did you submit FAFSA and CSS already? If so, then you have nothing to lose by sending the tax forms. You never know, you might get offered non-need based money.

I sent all the docs in even though I highly doubt my S will get accepted. But you never know.

Same here. Got the congratulations email yesterday from FA office. Just got clarifying email stating child will be accepted next month and with strong stats should work with FA Office to complete their request.

The only advantage would be if: 1) you want your kid to have some skin in the game by taking a federal student loan; 2) you want to manage your own cash flow by taking out a Parent Plus loan.

For those of you that received the email, can you share your stats?

I’m confused…emails were sent saying you’re accepted and then a subsequent email was sent saying you aren’t right now but you will be next month when the decisions are formally released. So basically you are accepted it’s just a timing issue?

I am guessing some of the Gabelli invitees got an early email and they don’t want to offend them or upset the other students they haven’t decided upon. Hopefully the offending IT or FA person isn’t being let go today. Mistakes happen. On almost every application, so we should all be a bit understanding it can happen in a fast pace environment.

U Miami had a similar gaffe. They sent out financial aid packages with letters that said ‘Congratulations!’ days before admissions decisions were released. Then they retracted the letters and said it was all a terrible mistake. Then, sure enough, those people got their acceptances a few days later.

Or u Miami thought it better to let them into the school or did a full review quickly after the mistake. Perhaps the mistake was a blessing for those kids. Or we only heard from a select grouping on cc and not the whole cohort. Probably not but we don’t always know.

Well congrats are in order in any event <:-P !!

Right on @vpa2019 !

@twinmom13 Sure! URM, 3.9 UW, 8 APs by graduation, 4/100 class rank, good ECs, (I hope) great LORs, pretty solid essays imo.

We received the email today! It seems like it is BC’s version of a ‘likely letter’. They also want to make sure all our financial aid materials were in so that next month, when they send the official acceptance letter, they can include a financial aid package with it. They apologized for the confusion that the financial aid office caused by prematurely reaching out to us before the admissions office. They also stated that they had a record 35,000 applications this year with 2300 spots.

Has anyone that didn’t apply for FA receive a similar/likely e-mail?

@UGG2023 I think the purpose of the letter (which was sent by mistake) was to encourage applicants to submit missing FA documents. So if you didn’t apply for FA or if you weren’t missing any docs, you probably didn’t get an email…just my guess.

Can more people post their stats?

Daughter did not receive email on FA as I had called the school and asked about sending tax returns as likely won’t qualify for need based aid. They said they would waive the requirement and put no FA. I went into daughter’s portal today and noticed that the link to set up a BC email address is now functioning where it wasn’t prior times. I’m thinking maybe she’s in but not notified yet. Thoughts?

When I log in now the page looks different. Since the end of December, when I logged in, it went right to the Application Status Check Page. As of this evening, when I log in, it goes to the Agora Portal, My Services page, on that page under Account and Personal Info, under E-Mail services, it inserts my email address and under that it says “Once you submit this form, email sent to your BC email address will be forwarded to the email account above.” I’m to afraid to do anything. I have no idea if this means anything…
