A little late but:
Accepted deferred EA
Nursing
ACT: 32
GPA: 3.7 UW, 4.5 W/5.0
13 total AP classes from 10-12 grades
From PA
(a bit surprised about the acceptance but very happy!)
I got that email on 3/11 about missing FA documents
I also sent in a letter in Feb entailing my accomplishments since I applied EA in November
FA came out pretty good so I’m excited!
Congrats to all!!!
Can anyone see their FA info yet? The letter said it would be available on the 23rd but when I log into the Agora portal, it states that I don’t have “an award notification to view”.
Same here! I’ve been checking constantly and nothing has come up!
@vpand17 Congratulations. You’ve earned it now go make it happen!
Look up “BC happy” and “shake it of” student videos on YouTube to get super psyched
You have great aps and gpa. And you probably are an incredible person.
Glad you will be a nurse. Maybe someday you’ll help me in the hospital!
@privatebanker Thank you so much for your kind words!!!
BC or WashU
I am from northeast with strong humanities background. Looking to study international relations, public policy, history…not sure yet. I think student body at WashU is more of a fit, but love going to cities. Which would give me a better experience/outcome? I understand WashU is a great school and highly selective, but why? I did not find much to do in St Louis. How is job placement for liberal art student?
@20222328 I was rejected by WashU ED2, waitlisted BC, and also from northeast. I personally would go with WashU. I agree that St Louis is a meh city at best but think WashU a better school, beautiful campus (did you visit?) and the quality of life is supposed to be excellent. I’m jealous honestly…
I was waitlisted from NJ. I know that it depends on how many people accept their offers, but is there still a decent shot that I could get in off the waitlist? Is there anything I can do to increase my odds? Congrats to everyone who got in!
@20222328 I will have to concur with @UGG2023 While my knowledge of Washington University is limited, I think your academic aspirations will be better served at Washington University. Also, Boston College is located about six miles west of Boston, as you probably know, and is situated within a rather upscale and affluent suburban community. I am not exactly sure of what the neighborhood adjacent to Washington University is like, but I am not sure that should be a large factor in deciding upon a college in which you will enroll.
If I were in your shoes, I would dive into the core curricula and electives offered at BC and WashU. See how the curricula, faculty, campuses compare. Let us know how you make out!
@TwinMom2023 we surprised but not shocked, BC was clearly his top choice. This year appears to be very competitive and a lot of highly qualified students are being deferred or rejected from their top school. I’m glad to hear your daughter is happy with the school she is going too!
Since this is a BC thread, we can be more accurate: 6 miles west of downtown Boston. However, part of campus is nonetheless in Boston; the Boston city line cuts in between lower and middle campuses. The oft-repeated “not in Boston” is a pet peeve for me. (And out west where we live, 6 miles is only a third of the distance to my kids’ high school lol.)
@privatebanker I asked the question primarily out of frustration, he received 3 rejections in one week and we were a bit fed up. I recently spoke with a family friend who used to work in the admissions department at Columbia, she told me that my son was more than likely a victim of geography. If he had lived in a different state or went to a different high school he may have gotten in. I understand the schools are looking for increased diversity but it can leave qualified students behind.
@evergreen5 Thank you for pointing that out. I looked up the campus on Google maps and clearly, about 1/3 of the campus is in Boston proper. If you look at the old pics of BC, that part of campus used to be another reservoir. I guess they filled it in at some time to expand the campus.
@runningryan I totally understand!!!
I was in your exact shoes last year.
It seemed so arbitrary and different from my college experience, it left me dumbfounded.
And I have turned this resentment at the time in to a big time hobby and/or research interest for me. Also, I have become personally dedicated to helping students and families on here with anunvarnished but pretty well researched opinion.
But I am not an insider.
But have spent a lot of hours researching and talking to others outside of cc. In fact, in retirement down the line, I believe I will spend time at schools with less resources and advise families for free.
Your son is a star and as I said before you should be very proud. As a fun thing have him take a look at the ug education of the CEOs of America’s Fortune 500. It’s eye opening. Success is in a student’s hands and the school will not be determinative.
Good luck and keep me posted. Dm me anytime if you have questions.
@privatebanker I have read several of your posts and I personally want to thank you! The information you have provided has been very valuable to me and I’m sure it has been for others. He is my oldest so this is my first college application process and it has been an eye opener! I will be doing this again in two years. I appreciate your kind words about him! We are very proud of him and we have always told him college is what you as the student makes of it.
It seems like some admissions could be thinking he was applying there as a safety, not his top choice. His sat subjects are great, his grades and IB! I think some schools operate this way and it hurts kids with higher scores and grades.
Besides ED (next year), the best way to show strong interest is by acing the supplemental essay:

@college17013 thank you very much, everything worked out. Got waitlisted from Boston on Thursday but got into Barnard College of Columbia on Friday, which was my first choice. Thank you, wishing the best with your college journey!
if they have already accepted several stufdents from my HS, do i have a chance on the wait list
@Luke123456 I do think you have a chance. Follow the advice that I think has already been posted here about sending in a letter saying BC is still your number one choice. If you get any big awards at the end of the semester, send in info about those, as well. Good luck to you!
