During the first half of my high school career, I was a pathetic student. I transformed in to a motivated student at the beginning of my junior year and took many honor classes and finished with strong grades both senior and junior year.
I was able to enroll in a state school, and have recieved an overall GPA of 3.95 for my freshman year. I am starting my sophmore year in the fall of 2012, and hope to do just as well, if not better.
If I keep it up, will I be able to transfer to BC as a Junior?

Overall Stats:
College GPA 3.95
Volunteer at a hopsital for a total of 105 hours
Volunteer for BigBrothers and Big Sisters organization for 100 hours
Work about 15-20 hours a week

what are my chances?

If it helps I am a manger at the place I work, and I will continue to volunteer. I am also looking to transfer to Brandeis, BU, Northeastern, and College of William and Mary. Provide me with some input, and I will chance you back.

hey you have a great GPA and you seem to be doing some community service and the fact that you are a manager shows that you are a leader at what you do so I would say that you have a good shot at those colleges. good luck to you!

I think you have good shots at all of those places. Sorry, I don’t know that much about transferring chances as I don’t have a good handle on what else colleges look for when considering transfer applicants, but if you’ve covered all the bases you should be alright.

By the way, thanks for commenting on my chance thread. So few people ever do.

From your grades (especially your great GPA; nice job!) and other information, you seem quite qualified. I don’t know much about how colleges choose transfer students, but the girls from my school who attended Boston College (not as transfers) did not have GPAs as high as yours. It seems like you have a great chance at all of those schools if you can write a compelling essay. Best of luck! (Thanks for chancing me, by the way!) :)

Will most defintely chance back!

I think the fact that you have a phenomenal GPA while balancing out so much time on work and volunteer service will have a great impression for you. I don’t know much about the chances of transfer, but I know a person who transferred from my community college to Cornell, so I’d say you have a great shot.

Great GPA and experience should amount to a good shot at transfer!

Chancing you back!
I got this from BC’s page:

The Boston College community welcomes transfer students. Each year, approximately 125 students transfer into Boston College. The majority enter in the Fall semester. A small class also enrolls each January.

The Committee on Transfer Admission reviews each application individually. Although primary emphasis is placed on the college record, SAT and/or ACT test scores, high school record, essays, recommendations, activities and work experience are also critical components of the application. In recent years, students most successful in the transfer admission process had very strong records from both high school and college.

I don’t know a whole lot about transfers, but it seems as though your upward trend in HS, your phenomenal College GPA, and your work experience should give you a pretty strong chance at your transfer. Good Luck!

I think you’re solid! Good GPA and Community Involvement!!

Sounds like good news so far. If there are any suggestions or anymore feedback feel free to leave more! I appreciate it.

You have a great GPA and awesome community service. The fact that you are a manager where you work shows that you have good leadership qualities/skills. The upward trend in your junior and senior years is also appealing. Keep up the work next year, get in some more community service, other possible leadership roles, and maybe an internship or a research project of some kind and I think you’ll be a competitive candidate.

Good luck!

Don’t know much about transfer students, but your stats make you seem a worthy candidate. I think you should show BC that you’re determined to succeed in your chosen major, so hopefully your classes at your state school show your interest. Good luck!

Your determination and will to succeed seem to indicate that you will succeed, whether or not you are able to transfer. With your excellent GPA and volunteer hours, I’d say your chances are good to excellent. Good luck :)

In my opinion, 3.95 is a pretty strong GPA. Great actually! Your extracurriculars are icing on the cake i think.
I feel like you have a pretty solid shot at transferring to Boston College.

I could definitely see you getting in.

Thank you for all the input so far. Anymore??
