Boston University is a better research university if your wanting to do STEM and research, BC is more of a large liberal arts college if you are looking for that kind of environment.
Wildestdream, you might have been right 40 years ago.
BC is better academically, so if you can do as well as you would do at BU, then you will look better as an applicant when applying to med school
@Georgia101 BC might be a better choice for business, but in virtually all other areas, BU has the edge academically (check the departmental rankings if you’re curious). I’m talking about academics only. They are very different schools in terms of feel so i would also take fit into consideration.
BU has a reputation where it is the hardest to get an “A”. just google, “hardest to get an A”
So if he wants to get to med school, go to a state school. save the money. spend the extra time (assuming your son finds the work easy) volunteering and building up his extra-currics.
There is a similar thread here asking about getting into med school - Better school or better GPA. Response was overwhelmingly that is better to get a good GPA (and of course MCATs).
