Boston College vs Rutgers (Bio + Pre-med)

Hello, I am a student that was recently accepted to both rutgers (SAS) and Boston college. The net price calculator states that I should be paying somewhere around ~25,000 for BC before loans. I was awarded 3.5k a year at rutgers plus an honors invitation, which would bring Rutgers down to about ~22,000 a year before loans. I do not qualify for state aid so that would be my final cost. In short, I am wondering if BC would be worth the extra 3,000 per year. The only appealing aspect that I like about Rutgers is its proximity to my house and the fact that a majority of my friends would be going there. In this situation, would the BC education be a better opportunity over the Rutgers one?

How much better is BC In terms of future job prospects?

What’s your intended major? Will you attend grad school?

If you’re thinking pre-med, what is most important is your college GPA and MCAT scores. Either place would prepare you well. Med school is usually full pay so ideally you want to minimize undergrad debt.

3K a year difference is close enough, however, that I wouldn’t rest my decision wholly on that.

FWIW, back in the dark ages (the 80s) I was in the Rutgers Honors Program and it was a great experience.

I would make a list of the pros/cons of each place - you indicated the pluses for RU. What are the pluses you see for BC?

with a 3K difference, I would go to BC over Rutgers.
