I’m headed to Fordham if this doesn’t work out. I still haven’t heard anything from them, so I’m crossing my fingers that it works out!
Everyone should definitely move on and embrace the school that they accepted and a school that wants them. That said. I don’t know if it’s internet tall tales or not, but I read on various threads that there have been times when students were moving into their dorms at one school and got a call from the school they were waitlist-denied from saying they had a last minute spot and to pack back up and drive on over. Again, if true it has to be extremely rare.
Is anyone here (besides myself) part of that select few they’ve held for “final consideration”? If so, are you doing anything at all, or are you just waiting for a response?
What does it mean to be held for “final consideration”?
Hi Jesuit123 Did you receive any email at all saying you were one of the select few, or did you just assume because they closed the waitlist and you didn’t receive email.
I am asking because my son also did not receive any email when they closed the waitlist and was wondering if they sent out separate emails about the select few they were holding for final consideration. Thanks
@jpm50 They cleared the majority of the waitlist, but still have held a few people back from denial to look over their applications again before making a decision.
@mrs806 I did not receive an email. I called the admissions office and they confirmed that I’m still in the running. Good luck to your son!

I’m trying to understand what you are saying.
Are you saying BC has notified a number of those on the waitlist telling them they were now denied?
I didn’t think they did this. Nor did I think it would be in their interest. They might need some in case of summer melt.
Please clarify what you mean in your statement.
Thank you.
Thank You Jesuit 123 and good luck to you as well!!
“Are you saying BC has notified a number of those on the waitlist telling them they were now denied?”
Yes they did, via this tweet: https://twitter.com/BC_Admission/status/743577072132628480

They already sent out two rounds of waitlist acceptances before clearing the rest, except for a few including myself and (I assume) the son of @mrs806. They can afford to do this because they already let a bunch of people in.
To clarify my statement:
Boston College, after two rounds of waitlist acceptances, denied (or “cleared”) the remaining members of the waitlist, with the exception of a few students that are still being considered for admission.
Side note: Those of us who are still being considered will probably hear back this week, since I believe they said the deadline for a waitlist response was July 1st.
Thank you @Jesuit123
Final decisions were just sent out. I got accepted! I just wanted to say thanks to everyone in this thread. It was immensely helpful. Good luck to everyone this fall, whether at BC or another fantastic school.
Jesuit 123 Congratulations!! My son received nothing !! There is no Email. Did you get anything in the portal or just an Email. I called the office but they are closed early for holiday weekend. Thanks for your help…
@mrs806 All remaining waitlist candidates received an email; none remain without a decision.
Hi Devlin Hall. We have not received an email from BC since March 17 saying he was waitlisted. Could you please check for us. His name is Jason R. Thank You!!
@mrs806 Check your spam folder!
Nothing in spam either…
Are you sure he replied and accepted a spot on the waitlist?
yes he did… I have the confirmation…
@DevlinHall208 - Can you tell us how many people were accepted off of the waitlist?
