Boston College Waitlist Class of 2020

That information, along with other important data, will be released by mid-August.

@mrs806 I guess the next best thing to do now would be to call on Tuesday with his Eagle ID handy. I’m crossing my fingers for your son!

Also, your son wouldn’t have a secondary email account that he attached to any forms/applications, would he? If he does, that’d be something to check as well.

Thankyou!! We are keeping our fingers crossed as well…Yes I will call them on Tuesday. He only used the one Email so we will have to just wait… Again Congratulations such great news for you!!

@mrs806 The Agora portal didnt allow me to submit my deposit until today. Maybe check the portal on your son’s account to see if he has the option?

Thank You he said he will check. One of the college reps emailed me through college confidential and said he was removed from the waitlist on May 9th, which we can’t understand because they didn’t even go to their waitlist at that point yet according to their tweet. We are so confused because I would think that he would have received a denial then or would have received a denial when they cleared the waitlist. However we never received anything…

@mrs806 So sorry to hear that! :frowning: Best of luck to your son this fall! I’m sure he’ll succeed wherever he goes.

@DevlinHall208 You guys said in the waitlist rejection letter last month that your class was full? But yet you are still accepting people in July? Doesn’t make sense…

BC Admission office was probably the least helpful throughout this college process… I hope they can be better for future students!

^ Agreed!

Thank You Jesuit 123 Wishing you good luck. It was meant to be for you!!

Sorry to hear you feel that way @tyguy55 and @londondad. We tried to be as communicative as possible on both this forum and Twitter, answering questions and posting when decisions would be released as soon as we knew them throughout this admission process. We also encourage students and parents to communicate directly with their specific counselor via E-mail, phone, and in person throughout the process with questions or concerns. Most recently online, this included informing the vast majority of students still on the open waitlist in July they would not be taken off. Because that is a standard letter, we did release via Twitter that a very small number remained active on the waitlist. We could have kept everyone on the waitlist for 2+ weeks more but felt it was better to inform as soon as we could.

We wish your children the best in their educational endeavors.

hey @DevlinHall208 is there any reason that BC hasn’t posted their 2016 acceptance rate but it seems that the majority of other universities have? thanks!

@litlhoward2468 Another reason why the admissions office was so unhelpful. They are so vague about everything. I agree I’m not sure why they can’t just tell us. The stats are obviously there

Actually, the only “stats” that are there are preliminary numbers. And that is true for all colleges. The official counter does not work until October, when schools officially count heads that are still enrolled.

Is the Admit rate a decision criteria for you on whether to apply/enroll if accepted? If not, then why do you care? (And if it is important, I hope you search cc for posts by Xiggi on why Admit rate is essentially worthless to applicants.)

The national statements of principles and good practice (admission bylaws) allow for all universities to utilize their waitlist until July 31, so we prefer, for the sake of accuracy, to delay the data mining and reporting until our class is officially set on August 1.

Our overall acceptance rate for the Class of 2020 was 30 percent.

@DevlinHall208 Thank you for being so helpful and responding to questions on this forum. Now that the class is set, can you provide waitlist statistics for the class of 2020?
