Boston College?

Hey, Did anyone hear back from Boston College yet?

Jan. 15 is the date given so I'd expect a wait.

jan 15th, huh? No, I havent heard back yet

they are gunna send stuff out may 14th...

and i checked united postal service to see how long it takes for both an envelope and a package to make it to where i am and it will be 3 days....granted there could be error in my calculations but that means i can know by may17th!!! thats two days!

I just got my packet today. The acceptance letter was hand-typewritten (actually done on a typewriter, not a computerized form letter) and stated that 100 people were accepted this year from a pool of roughly 1,600.

Best of luck to those still waiting! (P.S. Check your Agora account to see if you have an option to submit "Enrollment Confirmation and Room Guarantee Fees." I'm pretty sure that's an indicator of whether you're in or not, since the acceptance packet requests that you submit all enrollment forms online.)

"actually done on a typewriter, not a computerized form letter"

Are you sure it's a typewrite letter? I work in the admissions office and no one own a typewriter. Someone one might had typed it at his/her home, but what a hassle. Nevertheless, Congratulation on the admissions.

It has all the marks of a typewriter: carbon residue, non-uniform character formation, loose right margin, slightly slanted left margin, slight smudging in a few areas, one typo that easily would have been caught by spell-check (not to embarrass the author). The font is also slightly different from the other pages included in the packet (which, it should be noted, do not show the hallmark traits of a typewritten document).

I use typewriters a lot myself, so I'm relatively familiar with the traits of the documents that they produce. Maybe my letter is a unique case, but I'm fairly certain that this letter was typewritten. The letter was personal--most definitely not a form letter--and I was very impressed by it.

Thanks for the congrats Reddune, and best of luck to everyone still waiting!

wow thats a 6.25% of acceptance....damn.

oh yea and out of curiosity ace what were your stats (if you want to share)...

4.0 GPA in college (just completed freshman year) with some good ECs.

High school was something like a 4.2 W/3.8 UW (don't remember exactly). Graduated 4th in my class of 130, and was Class Treasurer for 3 out of 4 years. 2190 SAT (790/660/740) and SAT IIs: Lit 730, Math II 720, US Hist 650. Had 4s on AP Calc AB and US Hist, and a 3 on Eng Lit/comp.

Don't know about my instructor evaluation for certain, but a person I know who worked in his office and copied and mailed the recommendation said it was one of the "most enthusiastic" they've seen go out of the office, for what it's worth.

wow, 100 out of 1600? thats insane. I guess I wont expect an acceptance then =(

im guessing since my agora account didnt change i wont be joining ace at boston next year....damn......

ace586 which college were you from?

I'm currently at Suffolk University.

I received a letter in the mail from BC today saying I was waitlisted. I was shocked, being I anticipated being flat-out rejected. I think I'm gonna put myself on the waitlist and see what happens, because I can't decide between Cornell and BC (if i even get in).

I was also waitlisted to Boston College today, the lengthy typewritten letter was postmarked May 15. I applied to the College of Arts and Sciences as a double major in biology and psychology.

Dancergal, what was your intended major at BC?

Good luck everyone! :)

Hi guys,

this is actually my first post on CC and its so amazing how everyone is giving support to everyone else. It's one big family!! LOL

Since this is a Boston College transfer thread, I recieved my acceptance letter from Boston College yesturday. I got into the Carroll School of Management. I'm pretty excited. I'm still waiting to hear from other schools though.

BC said that only 100 students were accepted from 1600... O.O that's like 6.25% that's rediculous! i'm actually in awe! Mainly because I'm not the "extremely smart" type, in fact I think i'm pretty average (kinda stupid I think...LOL) and i don't think my stats really uber spectacular. But I guess they saw something in me that they really liked!

So which brings me to another comment....just because a school didn't take you right away DOESN'T MEAN that you are academically impaired or a social reject, it just means the college isn't searching for your special talents or qualifications. So Don't give up!!

Oh and yeah, I transferred from Bentley College...ironic isn't it? A business college to another business college Hehehe

Comments and questions would be appreciated!!

Good Luck Everyone!!

hey for those that were accepted/waitlisted...what were your stats? oh and did your agora account change?

I was waitlisted as well. I am planning on attending Vanderbilt.
