Boston College

I'm interested in transferring to Boston College after my two years at community college and I had a few questions:
1) First could i even get in
In high school i had a 3.4gpa and an 1810sat. I was president of my class for 3 years, took a couple AP's, a few honors classes, involved in multiple clubs, tremendous recomendations from in my community and in my school, and out of high school went to my local community college. (Ranked top 25 cc in the country). At community college I have a 3.8gpa and hold a leadership position in the political science club while holding down a part time job. So could I transfer to BC as a third year polysci major?

2)I have heard BC is a major party school, and that is unattractive to me because I am going to college to earn my degree, not party...is it fair to say Boston College is a huge party school with the likes of Penn State?

3)What is life like at Boston College? ie: Housing, on-campus activities, school spirit, etc

4)Is the political science program at Boston College a respected one?

Any comments or critiques on Boston College would be appreciated, Thanks everyone!

I’d recommend you spend some serious time reading BC’s website, most of your questions will be answered. Also, read the individual thread on Boston College here, under U.S. Universities. To learn about the student culture, go to a bookstore and read the Insider’s Guide to Colleges, written by college students.

You really really need to improve your SAT score- BC is a very good school.

Also, I really don’t think it has the reputation as a party school, so I don’t know where you heard that from.

I have moved this to the Transfer Students forum due to your question #1. For your other questions, you might want to start a new thread on the College Search & Selection forum as you will get more people visiting that forum that are familiar with BC.

you should really read about the bc polisci program if thats what you’re interested in…you wouldn’t want to end up there and discover a not so great department
