Boston Schools

I only have time to go on tours/info sessions at 2 of the following 3 schools. Suggestions? Thanks guys

Northeastern
Boston University
Boston College

I would decide based on your grades/scores and what type of school you want. Northeastern and BU are both in the heart of Boston. Whereas BC is more suburban (located in Chestnut Hill), a short drive from Boston.

Also BC is more selective and religiously affiliated (Catholic) so that is also something to consider. If you provide your stats then we may be able to help you figure out your chances at BC vs BU/Northeastern. BC is typically the hardest to get into, then Northeastern, and lastly BU (although very similar to Northeastern). Good luck!

I know where this is going to go, so I might as well start there: the difference between BU, BC, and Northeastern is no longer about acceptance rates. Googling it shows that BU is at 36% (2012), Northeastern at 32% (2013), and BC at 28% (2010), which is not hugely different. There are a ton of threads comparing the stats of the schools, it feels like, so I’d search through some of the threads for the 3 schools for that.

What I think is more important is what type of school you think you would like to go to. As cakebatter pointed out, they’re very different settings. The most basic summary:
BC is a religious school outside of the city with a more open campus and a greater focus on liberal arts. BU and Northeastern are both large, urban research campuses. BU is more spread out and has less of a campus feel. Northeastern really prides itself on its urban campus, and co-op is what makes it stand out. They’re all good schools, so I think it’s most important to find what would be a good fit for you, considering the campus setting, costs, and your major.

What are you looking at majoring in, what are your goals with your degree, and what are some of your basic stats? This might help us give you a better idea of where would be best to visit.
