Boston schools

Hi

I'm dying to find a smart, creative school with lots of student rock bands on campus. My guitar teacher recommended going to college in Boston so I can play out. Any ideas?

I'm looking at Oberlin tomorrow.

Thanks

Oberlin is not in Boston. You might want to look at Boston University, Boston college, tufts or Brandise.

It is just from wikipedia but here is a big list of all the universities in metropolitan Boston. It has to be the most university dense city one the planet.

In addition to the universities posted above is Northeastern University, University of Massachusetts: Boston. If you are a women there is also Wellesley College.

BTW what are you looking for a smaller university or LAC vs a large research university. Do you prefer a public or private school and how much are you able to pay in tuition?

Hey guys thanks for the quick response. I know Oberlin’s in Ohio- I guess my comment was out of place- but it seems to be artsy/musical. I’ll check out those schools.

I’m looking for a smaller LAC, private or public doesn’t matter to me. I will definitely need financial aid help because my brother goes to Williams.

If you want to go all out for music in Boston, this could be the place-

[Berklee College of Music](http://www.berklee.edu/)

Maybe Emerson — the school specializes in communication & performing arts

I was surprised that it took so long for someone to mention Berklee and Emerson. Those would be probably the only places.

Two ideas outside of Boston —UT-Austin has a ton of opportunities to get involved in music/bands. And my cousin went to Weslyan and always played in bands there (and now, after graduation he is in an indie band). Given your strong stats, these schools could be possibilities.

If a school like Oberlin appeals to you, Berklee may not be as intellectual a climate as you’re looking for. They’re also not known for generous FA.
