Boston Transfer Thread Fall 2015

Thanks so much! In my BU supplement I specifically mentioned some courses I wanted to take there as well as take advantage of living in Boston (internships, job opportunities, etc.) I also applied to Northeastern, Tufts, and BC (although I wasn’t a huge BC fan after visiting).

Hey everyone!
I also applied to BU for a fall 2015 transfer. Its a very nerve-wrecking wait to hear from the school, this form has been very helpful though! I am currently a double major at Kent State University, Finance and Management and Im applying to the school of management.
I am currently a sophomore and am on track to be a junior at semester end. I currently have have a 3.74 gpa overall.
I only have one EC at my school, a finance organization during this entire year only.
I submitted a mid-term report with all A’s
I know my academic evaluation will be very good from a professor in my major.
I also worked very hard on both essays and am confident that they are very strong essays, very personalized to my major.
Demonstrated interest by doing campus visit and meeting with admissions

My HS gpa is only marginal though, with a 3.0 gpa.

I know that I am an average candidate for the school gpa wise, but i feel my lack of EC’s puts me at a big disadvantage. I also have recently mailed them my resume because i have strong work experience, to help make up for lack of EC’s. Do I have a good chance? Transferring to BU is really important to me.
I have have also been contacted by admissions recently with inquires for more information. Is this a good sign? Thanks everyone!!

@transferyas319 , @JLM1234
I think your both strong applicants for acceptance in my opinion.

@JLM1234 Sounds like you are very well prepared to transfer. I will keep my fingers crossed for you while we are waiting for the decision!

@transferyas319 You’re very welcome and I hope you could get offers from your top schools!

So has anyone heard yet? I know it’s early but it also says they start releasing decisions April 1st…do we think there will be like an accepted transfer students facebook page to join?

@JLM1234 I haven’t heard anything yet, seems like they will release most decisions through next week. And I don’t know if there’s a FB page.

If I read what I saw correctly, transfer decisions are being released in mid-April.
Someone should definitely create a facebook page for Transfers! I think it would be incredibly helpful for us!

there is this https:// www. facebook .com /groups/bufall2015transfers/

.

@nodoubt Thank you for the link! So we can actually join this group as applicants, right?

.

@Triple2s I’m not sure actually I didnt send any request for my part. The admins of the group are those who works in BU, so I’m not quite sure about it. But, since there is an official page, so you might as well try. I should do that too actually.

that page might for accepted transfers, but I am not entirely sure. Here is to hoping that we all get accepted!

I have joined the FB group! There are both gutranteed transfer applicants and general transfer applicants who are waiting for the results. I hope we all get accepted after the long waiting!

Hi!

Thanks so much for creating this thread @‌Triple2s

I’m applying as a sophomore for fall 2015!
Hopefully Transferring to CAS as an economics major.

Here are my stats:
Credits Completed: 19(in progress of 19 more)
College GPA:3.8
Current College: Community College in Northern CA
EC’s: Teller Associate at Bank Of America
Volunteer at Local Congressman’s Campaign office
Volunteer for Childrens non profit
High School Varsity Soccer team (last year)
One letter of Rec

Midterm Report was a bit shakey 5 classes all A’s except for one where the teacher signed as borderline B/C

Really Really Worried about my personal Statement; fucked up and had only one person review it and was even late to submit the application 20 minutes late approximately (I realized it was ET too late).

Honestly not expecting acceptance but hoping for the best hahaha

Goodluck to us all.

I would say that your stats are good enough!

I haven’t heard anything yet either. I know on the website it says Mid-April to May so I’m assuming decisions will be sent starting in two weeks or so.

Hey!
I’m applying to BU from a large relatively well known state school for the fall of 2015. I am currently a sophomore this year and just finally submitted my Midterm Grade Report (All A’s with the exception of Orgo 2 in which I have a B+.) I applied into CAS as a neurobiology major which UMass does not offer.

My credentials here are:
Microbiology Major in the College of Natural Sciences
3.3 GPA (I know it’s a bit low but there’s an upwards trend)
University Programming Council
Some optometry shadowing
I work around 30 hours a week

My high school GPA was a 3.5/4.0

I was denied my senior year of high school probably due to a lot of reasons including tests scores, GPA, and probably more. Haha.

In my essay I wrote about how I grew up in Western Massachusetts and need a change of scenery. Due to the large party scene my school has, it’s affected my ability to do as well as I believe that I can.

I don’t know how much impact this has, but my older sister was just accepted to BU’s School of Social Work as a graduate student.

I know there’s a fat chance, I’ll get accepted, but hey BU’s been my dream school for as long as I can remember and I know that if I don’t try again, I’ll regret it.

hey, you never really know! I think with your college GPA, BU might take a holistic approach and look at other aspects of your application.

I will admit, I am nervous to send in my midterm grades. They are lower because my mom unexpectedly passed away in late February and school just wasn’t a main priority for a few weeks. I kind of want to tell BU that, but then again I don’t…
