@PabloEscobar isn’t that their own fault because they were recieved by them on time… Do you think there’s anything we can do about it?
No there isn’t anything we can do about it but we can try. I might call them and ask about it.
I called but they weren’t helpful
If you call them and tell them then they will acknowledge their mistake and you will have a high chance of getting in regular decision. (My friend with extensive knowledge about college admissions said this )
What do I say exactly?
Also does anyone know the chances of getting in RD after a deferral?
@NewEnglandBound @PabloEscobar I also got deferred. I called and they said that the board needed more info. They also said that they did already review us for ED so we will be put in the regular pool.
And since we got deffered from ED 2 and it is harder to get admitted to RD if you get deffered then we are probably not getting in. If I don’t get in then I have to go to a local community college. At my local community college people do drugs. If I go there then I will become a drug dealer. If I become a drug dealer I will go to Columbia and start dealing cocaine. When I start dealing cocaine I will become rich. When I become rich I have to create a mafia type organization to maintain my wealth. Which then makes me have to use force to maintain my empire. Then I end up on the FBI’s Most wanted list after killing DEA agents to keep my cocaine empire. Then after years on the run the US government kills me. Don’t get deffered from BU. Don’t go to community college
I got into Questrom!!! Congrats to anyone who got in, and good luck to everyone who got deferred! Don’t give up hope!! You are all talented individuals.
@JackObeck do you mind sharing your stats? I also applied to questrom but got deferred. Congrats on your acceptance!
@JP2194 I am from Canada, so my GPA is probably calculated differently.
SAT: 1920/2400
SAT2: Chinese 790/800
GPA:
Grade 9: 3.5
Grade 10: 3.8
Grade 11: 3.45
Grade 12 First Term(trimester): 3.55
My stats are not that good, so I think I probably got in because of my essays and my recommendations. I don’t have anything significant about my extra-curricular activity either.
Good luck on your college search! I am sure you will be accepted by some other good universities.

Hey everyone. I applied ED 2 to BU and got in but was not offered any scholarship money. Would it would be worth it for me to appeal and try to get some financial aid??
Yeah, i didn’t apply financial aid or scholarship.

Common App Essay Question:
The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
I don’t like to brag but…
I can safely say that my Essay was quite outstanding and unique. Since, countless Counselors, Teachers and my first language English friends gave it a 9 out of 10.
Basically I wrote a literature anecdote. With lots of metaphors, Imagery and elegant diction that makes sense and answered the question distinctively.

@“CAS 2020” congrats, what’s your gpa?
So in my school, there is no such thing as GPA, since it’s British curriculum. However, we have what we call Uniform Mark Scale or UMS in short. UMS is basically a method which balances out differences between exams and is a way of making sure people get the correct grade, no matter when they took a particular unit. UMS marks from all the units are then added together to give you an overall mark for your qualification.
Let’s say, for example, that Chris takes an exam for a particular unit in January while Ali takes that unit in June. Because the exam questions will be different between the January and June sittings, it is possible that one exam might be slightly more difficult than the other.
If both students got a raw mark of 42/50 on their exams, but the June exam was more difficult than the January sitting, then their marks wouldn’t represent the same level of achievement. The UMS mark would reflect this.
So in short UMS is like a GPA of the whole world who took the exam.
I realize that this is late, but this is just for the record:

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Aforementioned strengths, as well as my expressed interest in BU and their Honors College
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: (Accepted) NYU (Aid/ grants that covered 85% of costs per-year), Brandeis University (Aid/ grants that covered 85%), Worcester Polytechnic Institute (Aid/ grants that covered 90%), Fordham University (Aid/ grants that covered 85%), University of San Diego (Aid/ grants that covered 90%), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Aid/ grants that covered 85%), UT Austin (in-state; aid/ grants that covered 90%), Allegheny College (Trustee Scholarship: $130,000), University of the Pacific (Trustee Scholarship: $100,000)
General Comments: Boston was my #1 choice, and, considering that I was accepted into the Kilachand Honors College with enough aid/ grants to cover ~90% of my freshman costs (without including scholarships), I’m more than happy about how this has turned out. For anyone in the future looking through this thread for advice, all I can say is that you shouldn’t stress out too much on factors that are not in your control. Successful students, in a very paradoxical manner, tend to have a selective perception for perceived failings or shortcomings; just accept the situation, and work with it, and you’ll be more than fine in the end.
