Gonna start off by saying that BU is my top choice school. I’m touring in November to hopefully meet some faculty and get my name to stand out in the applicant pool for when I apply ED II.
GPA = 3.62 unweighted, ~4.25 weighted
ACT: 31, but retaking in December to raise certain scores so it can be super scored.
SAT: N/A
Extracurriculars: I illustrate and edit for independently published magazines that are non-profit or raise funds for charity.
Did engineering club for about a semester.
Was a part of an American sign language group for two years that occasionally attended events like deaf dinners.
I’m a petsitter, and have been since freshman year. I’m currently looking for a job or volunteer position at a kennel or shelter.
Extra: I’m a dual-enrollment student, so no APs, but still rigorous college classes. Currently majoring in general science at my CC, might apply undecided or CS at BU if it raises my chances any.
Also, I’m not interested in the CGS London program, will marking “no” on my application drop my chances of getting in? I’m just worried that if I say yes, and I get accepted, I’ll be stuck in a program I really do not want to be in.
Are AP classes offered at your school? If so, it will hurt your application that you have not taken any, even though you are taking DE classes. BU much prefers AP because of the standardization of coursework. You also don’t as many ECs as most accepted students (at least those that I know). BU wants really well-rounded students and since there is nothing major in your list of ECs like a varsity sport or something else that would take up a ton of your time and not leave you with time to do much else, it will be considered a weak point of your application.
And marking “no” for CGS will lower your chances of getting in, simply because if you don’t get into the specific program you are applying to, admissions officers will have no other options for placing you.
