Boston University or University of Rochester for Computer Science

Hello,

I got accepted as transfer student for both Boston and Rochester University. I visited both campus, and I liked both of them. However, as a South Korean international student seeking for job opportunity in the future, I wanted to attend a school where I can get an intern easier. Looking through some statistics, Rochester University has really good employment rate for software engineering and Boston does for computer engineering as well. However, I cannot determine how good both university’s career outcome is for Computer Science major because there aren’t much data online. Can anyone compare and contrast which school is better for international transfer student trying to find an intern as a Computer Science major?

The University of Rochester has a slightly more international student population, than Boston University if that is an important factor for you. Both schools have excellent career outcomes. If you work hard in both schools and maintain a high GPA, getting internships will not be too difficult. However, keep in mind that BU (Boston University) has a lot of students, so there can be more competition for the opportunities, despite Boston U. being in a city. URochester is a mid-sized private, so there is more individualized attention, so if you can thrive in that setting, UR may be the right fit. The schools size can influence the connections you’ll make with your professors, and other alumni, and U-Roch is just the right size, where a student can exploit all the opportunities available. Just my 2 cents.
