@hao how do you know
@TomSrOfBoston i guess i don’t mean qualified but more like kids who based on many people ik who have gotten in and looking at common data set and past acceptances based on that but you never really know bc it varies person to person. i just know that some schools don’t accept kids ED that apply for fin aid and they might have better chances getting in RD
@sleepysloths Well if you are accepted RD and get insufficient financial aid you can’t attend.
according to last year’s RD thread the differences in messages means nothing for RD applicants (it’s apparently only an indicator for ED applicants)
@TomSrOfBoston it depends family to family… i would expect that they wouldn’t accept a student if they’re not going to give them sufficient aid. obviously ik that they can’t accommodate everyone but i was talking with my counselor and some other people who were all saying that sometimes people are deferred from ED because they show need based aid. i don’t believe that BU is need blind so this might prove that point
@sleepysloths I did apply for financial aid, just because I wanted to see if I attend the school cheaper… I would still go if I hadn’t received any financial aid though.
Do you think that my stats were competitive enough?

@odie8o to me yes, but it varies person to person. your SAT score is similar to mine and ik from my counselor who talked to my admissions officer that it was most likely my scores that got me deferred. however, the area i come from typically has high standardized test scores so it could be something like that where your area has higher scores or something so they end up being more competitive.
@sleepysloths same here, i’m from massachusetts. you?
I never got an email giving me access to the portal. Anyone in the same boat? I applied RD.
@odie8o i’m from ny actually but my area is super competitive bc of a lot of private schools around here and my school is public but really small
Do honors and scholarship notifications come out with decisions?
@lemonstress23 yes
@sleepysloths I know several instances from peers last year that were offered acceptance and received no financial aid from BU…none. Though this was their dream school…had to turn it down. Middle-income families, could not afford it. I was fortunate, same income bracket, received significant aid…not enough to cover all expense. Parents and I are sharing the burden. I am grateful every day.
my status updated today to thank you as well as all my friends and we go to a very prestigious HS. Did This happen to everyone else too?
What did your status say before baybay11? My daughter’s status has said that the whole time, I think?
yea what did your status update to?
I haven’t received any emails
Ok confused. Does the Thank You status change on the application status page?
My status is still “our records indicate”
