@lolog123 I would try emailing them though. they probably have more information that i do lol
For others asking about the BU grant, yes, it’s “financial aid” in that it’s not a named scholarship, as @suzyQ7 and @lynjobes pointed out (and as a grant, it doesn’t need to be paid back). But at BU, as at some other schools, there is a merit component.
Here’s what BU’s FA website says:
For those who were asking, hth.
I got into the CGS London program (im probably the only one excited for it). I got a 28k grant, but I’m confused on the cost of the program. Is the spring semester then london in the summer 34k or 60k total? Also, what will happen financially for the years after? Would the grant follow?
@goldenchina what are your safeties? I’m sure we can help you start loving them
@goldenchina, I’m another mom who wanted to tell you that you are going to be ok. The college application process is brutal, but it is not a reflection on you. It sounds like you have accomplished quite a bit in your young life. Continue to take advantage of whatever opportunities life gives you. My friend’s daughter was sure she would get into Harvard (multi generation legacy, top notch grades and scores, actually went to Africa and South America to do volunteer work, etc). She was rejected by all but her one safety school and was devastated that all that work didn’t get her the college of her dreams. She is finishing her junior year at safety school and has made the most of it. Getting opportunities she wouldn’t have had elsewhere, making wonderful friends, and very happy that she is where she is. You sound very driven and determined. Once the shock starts to wear off, that drive and determination will take you far, regardless of the name of the school. Best of luck to you!
@suzyQ7 My safeties that I already got into are: Michigan State University, University of South Florida, and Miami Dade- The Honors College.
@Itsgonnabeok thank you for the advice. It really helped put me at ease. That’s what my mom keeps telling me, I’ll be fine wherever I go. Just gotta have a little faith
@goldenchina Don’t worry, Tulane has gone a bit cray-cray this year; I was rejected as well.
You’ll do fine, don’t worry a single bit.
Good luck.
To those who did not get into BU and will be going to their safety school - this post is for you. My daughter did get into her dream school but lack of financial or merit aid resulted in her turning down the offer (the school was BC - she was accepted into BU with $10,000 but was not interested enough in the school and the amount was not sufficient). She ended up going to her safety school with a merit scholarship and ended up with numerous internships, great friends, a wonderful boyfriend, and opportunities she would not have had at BC. She never thought things would work out as they did and now believes she was happier where she ended up. Oh, and yes she has a job in her field. If you did not get into your dream school, or cannot attend due to finances, things will work out for you.
@NewJerseyMom thank you thank you for writing that. BU was my top choice but i didnt get any merit aid so not going to go there.
This post makes me much more confident about going to one of the other wonderful schools i’ve been accepted to
@kerrycake the Boston semester is 30k and the London semester is 30k, you pay normal tuition (60k) for both semesters
@laurrodes oh okay, do you know about the boston university grant? is it renewable?
It is as long as you keep your grades up!
guaranteed transfer
29 act(30 is you “superscore” all the ones I took) 95.69 weighted gpa
not gunna do it I love the school but its too much money
Seeing quite a bit of people bashing on CGS, honestly, it’s not that bad of a place to be. You could always just transfer to your college of choice within BU after the 2 years are up. Not worth the 65k price tag though, but that’s just me. I ended up getting waitlisted to Questrom, so no CGS for me. Turns out I was overqualified for CGS but just fell short of getting into Questrom due to the huge amount of people applying this year. I did check the box on the common app for it though, but I later realized that some of the people who do get into CGS that way may be forced into the Boston-London program, something that I really didn’t want to do. So I’m kinda glad I still have a (tiny) chance of getting into the part of BU that I wanted.
That doesn’t seem right. you deserve to get in and probably will go somewhere good.
Just got accepted. I’m stoked. What a wonderful program!
Just got accepted to BU too. It truly is such a beautiful school, but I’m really saddened by how much tuition is and financial aid is barely willing to cover any of it for me, so I’ll have to refuse their offer. It is so pretty, to those who attend Boston University, I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time at such a beautiful and intellectual school environment!
How much financial aid did everyone receive? I’m dying to know!
Like, need-base aid!
