i believe the “decision is pending” means you have been accepted and made it to the fin aid office for review. Addtionally, it says that you will be notified by MAIL, BU does not send hard-copy materials to those they reject.
On the other hand, my fin aid message says that a decision will be made once an admissions decision is made. It says I will be notified by EMAIL, which is how they also notify of rejections.
I might be wrong so I don’t want to cause panic, but I have had a 2 P message for too long to have not been reviewed by fin aid already, which makes me think I will be getting a rejection.
i have conceded with getting rejected to all of the other schools besides my backup may happen and am ok with it lol. bu is pricey and i probably won’t get enough aid…
What other schools did you guys apply too? I applied to BU, BC, Tufts, Northeastern and Cornell… All expensive private schools that I would need a lot of aid for. I’ve heard BU doesn’t give great aid
i applied to 10. uws, uwt, cornell, bu, wustl, uofiu, cmu, uofm, uta, brandeis, and northeastern.
i really love the boston area, and is why i applied. i want to live on the east coast lol.
but just like you, @aabbccddz i need a lot of aid… i’ve heard that all of the schools i applied too are terrible with out of state aid, not including i was late in turning in a few supporting documents to a few schools. so now it’s just waiting lol.
i got into my back up which is in state, but still shooting
@TransferFall2018 Chill out. They said they don’t reject unless you are extremely disqualified. 3.6 is no where near out of reach. Average gpa for transfer is 3.5. I see people get in with 3.1, etc. No one else seems to have a change in financial aid. Also most people that come upon here and willing to share grades, must have done pretty well. People who applied with a much lower gpa tend not to share their grades.
Agreed with your points. I think I need to take a CollegeConfidential vacation for the weekend. Has yours changed at all?
Oh yeah, I am unsure if this calms anyone down, but I sent out my internship offer letter to BU Admissions yesterday and they told me they added it to my file and the representative sounded genuinely thrilled for me. If I was already rejected, I am unsure they would have added it to my file. Take that for what its worth.
@TransferFall2018 Na. I’ve been had the 2P for over a week now. No changes in fin aid. I’ll ask my brother, who got accepted last year for transfer, if he had a change in fin aid.
Actually I have been reading this discussion since we only have three pages, really nervous too… three paragraphs and two paragraphs thing is really killing me, checking email and portal thousands times…
@Jjjjjjas i don’t think it means anything… no reason to stress. worst case is they reject you and your figure out what to do from there. (that’s why it’s important to have back ups). they’ll let us know mid march-april
I have 2 paragraphs on my portal and on my financial aid status tab, it says this
"Your application for financial aid is complete.
Additional forms may be requested when your application is reviewed. Once a decision is made on your application for admission, a decision will be made on your financial aid. You will be notified about financial aid by mail and the decision will also be available to you online on the Link.
If you would like additional information or have specific questions about financial aid, we recommend that you visit the Financial Assistance Page or e-mail us."
I’m not sure what this means but just wanted to share since everyone seems to be sharing
my financial aid says that too. i am pretty sure there is no correlation between acceptence and rejection between 2 & 3 paragraphs ya’ll lol. i think it just means they have either come to a decision because they reviewed your application or not
@cercit20 The thing is for transfer, most first wave results are acceptance. A bu worker said this is the case that the rejections for the first wave are seldom and only for candidates that are far from what they are expecting. The average gpa for transfer is a 3.5. So for most of us here that got 2P are assuming we are part of the first wave and as a result get an acceptance since we have grades that are within what BU is expecting. Why would a transfer application be rejected with good grades, above the gpa for transferring, when they can just see other candidates first or ask us for a mid-term report to strengthen our application. This is why people think 2P correlates to acceptance.
@r3j3ct3d1 oh okay that makes more sense. by “2 paragraphs” are you referrring to this:
Our records indicate that you have applied to the College of Engineering for the September 2018 semester. If this information is not correct, or if you would like to change the college or school of application, please call BU Admissions during regular business hours.
Our records currently indicate that your application for admission is complete. Please note that the status of your application file and the required credentials are only accurate to date.
Upon further evaluation, the Board of Admissions may determine that we need further information to complete your application file. If so, we will contact you, or you may check our web site at a later date. If you would like to discuss your application further, please call us at 617-353-2300 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time and a member of our staff can answer any remaining questions that you may have.
Please verify your address (including e-mail address) by clicking Applicant Address.
@cercit20 BTW, it is a bit weird because I know that we have exactly the same status.
But, my status wasn’t in 3 paragraphs like yours. For my status, the second and third paragraphs from your status were combined, which eventually showed up as 1 paragraph.
So, I have total 2 paragraphs showing up, excluding the sentence “Please verify your address (including e-mail address) by clicking Applicant Address.”
