OK so I am aspiring to become a cardiologist and am really really into medicine. But out of the schools I got into I really want to go to either Binghamton or BU. Now the most obvious answer, I think, would be go to Boston they have more resources to help you do well on your MCATs, GPA, etc. But Binghamton University is also giving me a full ride to go to school there. For Boston I would have to currently shell out 35,000 a year just for attendance and whatever, but I feel strongly about ocming out of undergrad without any debt. Will Binghamton still be the better pick between the two? Some things to consider and you guys can comment on... BU i heard has a hugge grade deflation in the sciences, which would hurt my gpa, which is REALLY vital for med school admissions. On the other hand, BU, also has MMEDIC, and internship/study abroad opportunities in medical facilities all over europe and what not. I love Boston, the campus, the people, the professors, I have yet to visit Binghamton... but still a FREE RIDE? Which would you pick?

I currently attend Boston University. While it’s a great school and I personally love it, grade deflation absolutely exists in some cases (whether they want admit it or not) although I haven’t experienced it myself. On the other hand, BU does have vast resources and amazing professors so you’d definitely be getting the best education.

I’d go where ever the full scholarship is. You really don’t want to pay $38,000 plus room and board every year for 4 years then get into medical school and accumulate some more debt from that. Thankfully I got a scholarship, otherwise I’d be going to a much more affordable school myself. Do yourself a favor, take the scholarship and avoid future stress. Binghamton is a good college from what I hear, anyway.

Good luck = )

For med students in particular, it’s really a good idea to follow the money. Binghamton’s reputation is easily the equal of BU’s. It’s considered a great value and a great option–it’s very hot these days. DEFINITELY Binghamton.

Choose Binghamton, it rocks!!
