Boston University vs Northeastern for art?

HI! I am currently applying to schools and I decided to pick probably one in Boston since it is quite far away. I am a graphic design major, who may want to explore different fields such as film/media/animation. Currently I have Northeastern, but it seems BU may have a better fine arts program? Both are private and quite expensive so I would love if someone could give a bit of guidance on which can expand my horizons more and which has a better program?

If you can I would highly recommend applying to both rather than trying to pick now. The $70 (or whatever it is now) in the end is a drop in the bucket if you’re considering the expensive options, and admissions may make this decision easier for you as it comes time.

If you must pick one, it depends on what you want. For fine arts I think your assessment of BU as the better option is solid, but Northeastern will offer the more practical angle on graphic design/animation if you’re looking towards your career after with co-op etc. Again though, I think I would start with trying to apply to both. Neither has extensive supplements and both are on the common app, so doing both should be easy beyond the cost.

Would you need to take on any debt to attend BU or NE? It is best to avoid debt if you can. For us BU and NE were by far the most expensive schools that either daughter applied to (although of course results will vary from student to student).

If you attend a university which is only 30 miles from your home, but if you live on campus, then it is likely to feel “quite far away” in terms of what your life is like on a day to day basis.

Apply both. Both may offer merit aid. You can then compare and save. BU seems to be stronger in Fine Arts and Film etc

There is another worthy one:
