Boston University vs Penn state UP

which one is better for biology. i plan on attending medical school after graduation. Cost isn't an issue.

Boston University is a little better, but the difference is minor.

Now that you know that PSU is about the same as BU, go with the better financal aid package, if any.

well Penn State is better financially. according to the USNWR Penn State is above BU and is tied with elite universities such a UIUC, UT Austin, and UWASH. what’s your take on that?

lol are you basing you decision on USNWR ranking ? Look at the freshman profile. An average person that goes to BU has an average SAT score of 1910 where as a person that attends PSU has average SAT score of 1780. BU also requires high GPA. Were you accepted to Boston University ?

If Penn State is cheaper, then I would recommend Penn State.

BU is more selective than Penn state. It’s simply true. Both have great names but honestly I think the average student at BU is academically stronger than the average Penn state-er. Please don’t go by US News on this decision, they tend to give huge state schools more praise than they deserve (at least IMO).

the college experiences are very very very different, most likely due to BU being in an urban setting and Penn State offering that more rural classic super - state school experience. it’s extremely important you visit both in order to see where you think you’d thrive at more

Yea I understand that. However, that shouldn’t mean anything. Kids who get accepted to SUNY Binghamton usually score 1860-1900. However, students at Rutgers score around 1700’s. Yet, RU is known to be better. I find PSU to be better especially the campus life, and the sports are a plus. The name is also more prestige. Furthermore, the undergraduate biology program ranks higher then BU’s.

@echoudhu Everything you said is absolutely correct. I am just telling you not to base your decision on ranking. If you think PSU has better campus life, has good sports and cheaper, then definitely attend Penn State.

Pick the atmosphere you like better. The differences in schools isn’t going to matter a whit.
