Since Bowdoin is test optional- are scores a big tipping point if you do submit them, or is Bowdoin more holistic in general?
Holistic in general. This is what I have figured out. If you do are NOT an underrepresented minority or a recruited athlete, then SEND THEM even if your scores are slightly below. However, if you think your application is unique and strong and there is something so distinct that they really don’t need your scores, then dont send. If you are a strong student academically and socially, and you have decent scores, send them. I got in and my critical reading was below the 75% if that helps

@lizforeman15 I was accepted ED, and while I didn’t have any hooks (not URM, first gen, or recruited athlete), I had a fantastic interview! Since my grades were good but not perfect, and SATs were completely average, I think the interview helped me stand out a little bit. I showed my interviewer how serious I was about attending Bowdoin.
@lizforeman15 The interview is so helpful. I think it can absolutely sway the decision. Like swimmergal1234, I demonstrated how Bowdoin was one of the ONLY schools that I felt I truly would belong at. Also, my interview was only 22 minutes long, so length does not mean a single thing. The Bowdoin Admissions facebook page just announced decisions will come out 7PM eastern on Friday!
So early compared to my other schools…exciting though!

I have a gut feeling it’s going to be a rejection. I have a fun day planned to either celebrate or console myself, haha.
@SoapyMango My first choice is actually Yale so fingers crossed lol but honestly I wouldn’t mind going to bowdoin its phenomenal! Good Luck!!!

@glittervine Same about that gut feeling. Got rejected by Pomona early so I’m not getting my hopes that high again ;_;

I just want to wish everyone the best of luck! Whatever happens tomorrow, you all seem like incredibly hard-working and wonderful people, and that will pay off in the end—regardless of where you go to college
