I was wondering how prestigious being selected for Boys/Girls Nation is? My daughter recently returned from Girls Nation in DC and found it to be a wonderful experience. Does this qualify as a "hook" and maybe knock up the level of schools she is planning on applying to? Or was this just a nice award (and an all expense paid week in DC)?

I would say that it generally considered to be a very nice addition to a college application. Of course, the level of difficulty of becoming a delegate varies greatly by state.

Still, it is not a ‘hook’.

Um, it is very nice, better than NMSF, I would think, since only 98 boys make it to Boys Nation, and maybe fewer girls for Girls Nation. However, it is not a hook, but it will be a very nice addition to an already nice resume.

I am jealous though. While I am a guy, I went to VA Boy’s State. I was one of the 16 semifinalists that got to have personal interviews, but then I realized the opening night for a play I was in was that week. Oh well…
