Brag, Brag, Brag, Part II

Kaysmom.

Congrats to you and your lovely D. Is there any better feeling in the world than seeing your child do what brings them joy? I don't think so. The recognition is the fudge sauce on the sundae (I don't like cherries on my sundaes..... ;) )

Wow! Happy news for your D! Congratulations to her and looking forward to sharing many more successes.

after so many disappointments in the last few weeks....

i just got the call saying that i was cast as Tzeitel in a paid production of Fiddler on the Roof!!!!!!!

i'm so excited...i can't wait to be on stage again!!

Way to go Sporti!! So very glad to hear such wonderful news for you!!!

Yeah Sporti!!! No one deserves that good news more than you! Congratulations to you!

notfromme and lynnm --

thank you so much!! i auditioned for Hodel and REALLY wanted that part...but am more than happy to accept Tzeitel!!

hahaha, i didn't think i was old enough to play Tzeitel!

anyway, i can't wait to start rehearsals, even though they don't start til mid-june. i haven't been in a show since last july, so this is a VERY VERY WELCOME change to my routine!

maggie

Maggie, I'm delighted to read your happy news! I knew you were waiting and voila, you got it! This is a great way to kick off not only your summer but your plans for the coming year. It is the start of more positive things coming your way. Congrats and best to you.

thanks, susan!!

maybe you'll be able to make it out to a show if the summer isn't too crazy!

Oh, Maggie, I'm so happy to hear your news! Congratulations and best wishes for a wonderful summer.

p.s. There's something on its way to you in the mail. Keep a lookout! ;)

Eliza

alwaysamom --

because of this news (and thanks to you and your friend) it's looking like it might be an awesome summer.

thank you, a million times over again. i'll definitely keep a look out

maggie

Maggie-
I echo all the other congratulations you've received. The clouds didn't hang around for very long! I'm so very happy for you.

hahaha, i feel like i just got an acceptance letter.

i also feel that at this point, though it would be nice to get a "yes" from another company i auditioned for, i already have the fiddler "acceptance", so the urinetown "rejection" wouldn't hit so hard.

BUT, either way, i'm optimistic about the urinetown company as well. they were considering me for a lead until they realized my height, so maybe they'll also consider me for ensemble, who knows.

either way, mid-june to mid-july i'll be on stage working again. finally.

yessssssssssss.

Hey Maggie!! Definitely congratulations about your part!!! Is the show in Vermont?? I'd love to come see it! :)

Hope all is well!

~Amy~

it is, i'll PM you the details :)

Sporti-
If it were at all possible, I believe we would all be there to see you!! Just know you will be in our thoughts!! Congrats again, and wishing you the best for Urinetown!!

By the way....you should feel like you received an acceptance letter!!!!! So very happy for you.

Maggie! I'm sorry I haven't talked to you on AIM lately, I've been kind of busy. But congrats congrats congrats on your accomplishments and good luck with town!

Also, I know this is a Brag, Brag, Brag thread on a college forum, but I can't resist letting you know that I got called back for some community theatre (one of my callbacks is tomorrow morning for an Indian in Peter Pan) and I might be getting into Grease with another company! I also have the opportunity to attend a 3 week intensive local MT camp, so I have some big decision to make soon! I just wanted to thank you all.. CC is definitley my inspiration and gave me that needed boost of confidence! Thaaaank you.

I just wanted to brag on one of MaryAnna's students which is also my D's close friend. Today she found out she has been cast for a role in the ABC/Disney movie "The Initiation of Sara". It starts shooting in Louisiana in May. We are so happy for her!!! Not to mention she was accepted to USC, Tisch, UCLA among a few. Just goes to show you that you can have great things happen even before the BFA!

Maggie, please let me know the details of your summer shows, dates, location, etc. I'd love to see you onstage if I'm in the area. :) And honestly, you are SO very welcome for the little bit of help from this end. I loved that I could do it for you. :)

MaryAnna is so great. I'm hopefully going to Dallas over a weekend to work with her before I go to college, she's surely turned out some incredible performers! And what a success rate!

I try not to brag too much about my son, but I’m very proud today – he won first place in a state-wide young artist’s competition in oil painting with his painting of martini glasses! He thinks there were 1000 artists in the competition, but I’m not sure how many work with oil paints.

Other fun things coming up this spring – he has a featured part in this year’s dance recital (both singing and dancing), a solo song and dance number in a choir fundraiser, and, hopefully, graduation with top honors. He is counting down the days until school is out.

(This is my actor / singer kid, but he has really been concentrating on dance the past few months).

Then, he has a paying job dancing and singing in the ensemble of our local equity theatre’s production of A Chorus Line, running throughout June! He is signing up for the equity candidacy program to start accumulating points for AEA membership.

In July he will attend the Broadway Theatre Project in Florida for the first time.

In August he’ll prepare and leave for college…. More later!
