I'm a senior.
I'm taking 4 AP classes-literature, physics, spanish and Calc BC.
and..I feel so utterly STUPID in them (esp Calc and physics).
last year I took 4 APs(bio, chem, eng lang, USHis) as well and I managed them quite well with very decent GPA-as in all As.
and now,,, I'm struggling just to get Bs in many of my classes(spanish, calc, physics...)
math was a subject that came almost "natural" to me and seeing Cs, Ds and Fs in my Calc class was just kinda shocking.
I'm having problems in physics as well. the whole concept thingy is just HARD.

and yea. last year I scored third place in school for AMC, but this year, I didn't even qualify for AIME.

I feel so stupid and feel like I'm not intelligent enough to go to college. I hate this feeling///

Is my brain deteriorating or something?
any of you guys feeling the same thing?

same here, but I think that it's because this is our senior year. There's lot of things going on. You have to apply to college, search for schoalrships, and financial aids as well. So basically, you just spend less time on your study, that's all.
If there's something you dont understand about calc, feel free to post it here, since I'm Calc's biggest fan ^_^ I'm taking Physics B, so I dont know if that helps

haha. thanks for your help van1011. it's just that math problems on computer are kinda hard to read... lol
I'm taking physics C btw.. mecanics sucksss...

ohhhh I LOVE mechanics lol. Sometimes I would steal my teacher's Physics C's text book and read (he's cool about that), since we dont have Physics C in my school.
And for calc, I do everything by hand, but I can still help u w/ the concepts and maybe some confusing problems. ^_^

haha, I really am ^^ btw, it's "she". Well, I'm weird. I bet I'm the only one in my class that love calc and mechanics (end electricity + magnetics too) lol. But sadly... I'm antiEnglish lol ^^

I used to like math wayyy more than english...(hated essays and all)
but this year I'm actually enjoying english way more than calc&physics.
I actually began liking analyzing passages/short stories/books.. and writing stuff.
weird huh. lol

van1011, I think you may be my twin! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Calc and Physics...but everybody else just complains about them. As for English and History, I would rather do anything else. I just finished a 10 page term paper for English, but grr...I hate ENGLISH AND HISTORY!

"Older" as in 30s and 40s maybe, probably not senior year of high school.

But, OP, I'm only a sophomore and I know exactly what you're saying. For every test grade that I get that is below my average, I start thinking that I'm suffering from some mental degeneration or something. Kinda paraniod.

Everytime I get one little bad grade in math or science, even like one 88 or something, I start to love English. But English is too easy and then once I get another 100 in math or science I go back to hating it. It just constantly switches, but in reality, english sucks, its pointless

zpmqxomw: It can be, lol. great to hear for my twin haha!
I just finished a position paper in my writing lab. Yesterday, everyone got their paper back, except for me. So my teacher talked to me, she said "if this is anyone else's papers, it will be an F. But I'm giving you options. Since you're a senior now, do u wanna work on the paper again or you just wanna get over it". Ohh well, I choose to do it again, 3 other teachers will help me to work on it <lucky me="">
Notes: this is not corrupt or anything, plz dont misunderstanding... Just because I moved to US 2 years 2 days 11 hours 3 mins ago, lol.</lucky>

Op I know what your saying, I definitely feel the same way. ( I'm a junior though so if this persists into my second semester and my senior year I'm screwed lol). I used to be really really strong in math, like up until last semester. This semester I'm getting low grades in math, I messed up a test due to dumb mistakes (I don't know what I scored, but I calculated about 80-85 depending on if the teacher gives me partial credit for some). Now I'm doing lots of trig. and geometry, and I basically suck. I can't draw what the damn problems tell me to, I can't see "beyond" the figure as my teacher says, I'm basically trig-tarded. OOhhh god how
