hey bro, why are you at a CC? your stats are totally good enough for top 25 schools anytime!

because brand didnt become obsessive until he got to a CC!! lol

lmao i was almost afraid to click on this thread because i thought it may be some kind of hate letter. :D

If you wanna know, I'm at a CC for several reasons. Primarily, I didn't do exceptionally well in high school (3.3-4 ish GPA w/ all honors courses) because I didn't really care. I'm the first in my entire family (both sides) to go to college so nobody ever pressured me into it. My parents just lightly suggested it. I was accepted to the University of North Texas' Jazz Program (which is actually really competitive), but I decided not to go because I suddenly realized that I didn't wanna go 80k in debt for a music degree that likely wouldn't pay off in the long run. I'm really glad I didn't go now, even though I know I'd be a totally different person. So I basically went to CC, focused on my grades, and started to research colleges. I'm actually very happy with my decision now, just as long as I can transfer into a school that I enjoy!

But, uh, thanks for the compliment. :D

Edit: mojojo hit the nail on the head. I'd never even heard of the ivy league until I got on College Confidential. Blasphemy, I know.

Best of luck Brand, i hope everything works out for the best.
What i don't understand is, what drives you? what motivates you? why do you want to go to a good school?
for me, money and prestige has had it's go at me for a year and then i lost focus :(

Good question...I guess I just look back at high school and think that I could have done really well then. I remember senior year Physics. The soon-to-be valedictorian sat in front of me and would get answers/help from me a lot. I also remember my counselor telling me I'd received the second highest SAT score in our senior class. So there's always this feeling that I could have done well in high school, and now I want to make up for that. This is all relatively new to me though. I just started researching colleges and realized that, as good as a school as UT-Austin is (which is where I intended to transfer last year), there are schools that I love and that would offer a better education.

I kinda also see this as my last chance...I've got some direction in my life now, and I came to realize how important college really is. But, like I said, this is all pretty new to me, so I'm not anywhere near being burnt out. I'm very anxious to go off to school. I think that I've created this idea in my mind of how amazing the actual college experience will be and so I just keep wanting to move toward that goal.

Good luck to you too Newby. You're lucky though - you're already at a university! ;) But if you want my advice, don't forget how life-changing the college experience can be and why you think that attending that school (wherever you want to transfer to) will truly make you a happier and ultimately better-rounded individual.

if i am so lucky, why would i be on this board ;)

another good question :D I guess it's all a matter of comparison. In the eyes of someone like me, who will have spent two years at a CC and basically missed out on half of the undergraduate college experience, you are really lucky because you're at least at a university. University of Toronto right? So add to that the fact that, even if you don't get accepted as a transfer, you're already at a very good university.

i'll trade my position at my school with you SAT I score any day :)
mind if i add you to my msn/aim list?

Lol you know you could always just give it another try...retake it...

Actually, I do. Lol...I'm kidding. But I don't have AIM anymore...haven't for about two years. Never had MSN. Send me a PM on here though sometime.
