I was depressed all day because of all the work from school and injury from sports and many other problems. Before I came here I thought I'm so smart and I can get into good schools (sophomore, 4.2 gpa, straight A's but my ECs suck) with ease.
But after I viewed a couple of threads here, I got to yell it out "Holy macro, I'm the weakest kid here". And I'm much more depressed now.

i felt like a failure a couple times before..(even now still)
i made a wrong choice to go far away from home, wasting my time an my parents money for my freshman year in this suckest comm college.
and now,,waiting my other transfer acceptance letters. (already got rejected to one of my safety choice?!)

no.no.no. your academic life is much better than me.
just try to enjoy your time. high school doesnt come twice.
when youre a senior,,youll know what to do.

I think that your grades are great! It's only soph year and you have time to work on your EC's if you're that worried about it. Please don't become obsessed with your grades and ECs!

Yea my gpa looks good but...
Look at my schedule for next year:

U.S History II Honor (NOT IN HONORS THIS YEAR)

Physics H (science is the only thing I can be pround of, I'm in science league, but I'm so confused, I don't know if I should double up and take AP chem next year, because I plan to major in business)

British Literature (that's the worst part, I suck at public speaking and I'm always afraid of the challenge in Honors English)

AP Computer Science (my school might cut this next year)

Precal Honors

All my other electives are business-related courses

ECs:
helping kids at a local school every Saturday
Math team
FBLA (didn't do anything meaningful in it)
Science League
Plan to try out for varsity basketball next year, only 50-50 chance of making it.

Very WEAK, isn't it?

I'm planning to major in business, I read books about stocks, management and other business-related subjects. The colleges I'm considering are Carnegie Mellon, NYU, and Rutgers (live near it). I want to go to Penn State also but don't think I have a shot on it.

Now you know more of me, I'm not a very "top" student. Man, I just hope now on I can learn something from you guys here.

not saying your weak or anything (on the contrary), but CC does serve as a type of reality check for kids with 4.0 GPAs but 1400 SATs who think they might have a shot at ivies just because they are valedictorian of their school that is in the middle of nowhere and that their school has not seen anyone with a higher GPA than theirs in its history.

I'm right there with you in thinking badly of myself after seeing most of the people here. But it's also motivation to work harder and it's made me feel better knowing I know more things about colleges and college life than other students at my school.

SkyHigh..your isht is better than my isht and I got into Chicago and USC which are fairly good schools...I think..don't sweat it, you'll do something...

SkyHigh, don't be so intimidated! I don't have outstanding ECs, nor do I have perfect SAT scores, and I still got into my top schools. Just do what you love, and the rest will fall into place. (:

Stay away from the "What are my Chances" threads.

On the other hand, know that after spending many many months here, we have achieved an aptitude for making ourselves look more intelligent than we really are.

For example, I misspelled 3 words in this post, but edited them. Go figure.
