Hello everybody, as you may know college decisions are due soon, so I am currently deciding between Brandeis or Rutgers. My plan is to major in Computer Science next year and the main difference in education would be the class sizes and the reputation of the professors.

Here are my pros and cons for each school:

Brandeis:
Pros - Smaller school and class sizes, office hours with professors, and I feel I would fit in socially
Cons - Received no financial aid, and comp. sci. is not as renowned

Rutgers:
Pros - In-state tuition, more renowned comp. sci program, close to home(40min. drive), and more people to interact with (specifically for my major)
Cons - Campus feels too big, too many people (wouldn’t have the small community feel that brandeis has), and may see a lot of people i know (since i’m in-state)

Overall, I prefer Brandeis for its smaller class sizes and the small community feel. Having Boston nearby would also be a plus, and I would compete on the Brandeis’s fencing team as well. The only thing holding me back at this point is the fact that Brandeis would cost roughly $60,000 a year, whereas Rutgers would only cost about $25,000. I wouldn’t mind going to Rutgers, but at the same time I feel that Brandeis is the better school for me.

Note: Going to Brandeis would be affordable for me, but I am conflicted about whether I should pay more than double the price for a school.

Also to simplify this the most:
$58,000 for a higher quality education but less known comp. sci. program
or
$25,000 for a good, but not as high, quality education in a better known CS program
(Basing quality on class sizes, I prefer smaller classes)

This is a very difficult decision for me! PLEASE HELP!
