I got in, for the record. Thank god…this is the only place I applied.
congrats to you…my daughter is in her 2nd semester freshman year in ID
I got in too, I’m so happy. I will have to go visit soon!
Congrats @lsepoinos and @dhuggins!!! I wonder when I’ll get a decision… Graphic design…
It still shows the same old message for me. I am getting very anxious now; checking that page every 2 hours!
hey @lsepoinos and @dhuggins
quick questions:
- did you have amazing stats? what i mean to ask is, are they sending out acceptances to the top of tier of their applicant pool or is it general?
- do you know of anyone else who got in/rejected?
- have you bene notified of any scholarships?
thanks!
My DD was accepted into industrial design. She found her notice online on Sunday. No news on scholarships. We are OOS, so some scholarship money would be helpful beyond the $3,000 for OSS students. On stats, she had a 31 on the ACT; she did not take the SAT. Her grades are strong;she has mostly As and some Bs. Lots of AP classes.
Hi daapmom,
Thanks for the very helpful information you posted. My daughter got into DAAP industrial design. We found it online on Jan 16th. We did online chat (focusing on FA & scholarships) last week. should know if she can get into honor program this week. If she can get in, she can choose her dorm on Feb 1st. Any suggestions about dorm selection? She was at Turner last summer for DAAP camp, and liked it very well.
daniels hall is a freshman dorm and does have a DAAP floor. my daughter sadly was in a situation with 2 girls that bullied her behind closed doors…but she got along well wiith everyone else on the floor. she is on the 11th floor now on a quiet floor and is in a single instead of a quad and just loves the floor and everyone on the floor. it is not a quiet floor per se except during exam time. we are looking to either rent a room in a house for next year or buy a house for her to live in and rent the other rooms for the remainder of her being in school. we found that most of the apartments will not let you sublet your room out and when she is on co-ops we don’t want to be stuck paying $650 a month in an apartment for 4 months when she isn’t even there. congrats to your daughter…she will love ID DAAP.
@daapmom – when I was at UC (back when dinosaurs roamed Burnett Woods), I co-oped locally and would take over apartments of different classmates during terms where they were co-oping out of town (and when someone else was moving into my apartment during their school terms). It all worked out well, but I was moving every quarter.
I understand the “no sublet” issue – but I wasn’t subletting. The classmate was still leasing the apartment, I would just make the rent payments in their place. Of course, they trusted me just like I trusted the people moving into my apartment.
HI daapmom,
Thanks for your quick response. My daughter is an easy-going girl but very quiet. Perhaps a double or single room will be her choice. how does a single room at Daniels look like? we can only find photos about quad room at Daniels. Are there any single rooms on DAAP floor? She has 3.9 GPA/1520 SAT, should have good chance to get into the honors program. But after reading the threads I have an impression that DAAP students all have very heavy work loads, may not have time to finish the honors program requirements.
Does anyone have any idea about graphic communication design decisions? Has anyone received 1 yet?
@DAAPOfficial ?
hi CTIDparent - the single is small and it is on the 11th floor in daniels hall. she loves it and she started out very homesick and quiet since we are from maryland she didn’t know anyone when she went to school and lots of kids that are local go home on the weekends. the DAAP floors i believe are all quads, at least on the 8th floor. the 8th floor was an overflow DAAP floor…the 7th floor is all DAAP students. most honors students live in turner hall and they are suites.
HI daapmom,
Thanks for your quick response again. I believe we will take Turner as her first choice if she can get into honors. She stayed there last summer and likes it. Also I remember you mentioned that your daughter is helping backdrops design at CCM. My daughter is also very interested in this: she did costume design for her high school annual play last fall. Wish she can meet your daughter for suggestions when she is there.
Hope my daughter will have a smooth transition. We are from CT, even farther!
Thanks again for all the valuable info you posted! We don’t believe we get all of these even from UC.
CTIDparent i just sent you a private message. with regard to doing the backdrop for the upcoming opera with CCM it is something new this year they are trying out…they asked for DAAP volunteers to help out.
