Brief NYU transfer chances

I attended Nassau Community College my freshman year. I came out with a 3.5 overall GPA. I am considering applying for transfer to the arts and science school at NYU for the spring 2010 semester. Is my GPA of 3.5 high enough to get me in or is it too low?

thanks

Its possible to get in with that gpa, but it’s still low. The people who I’ve seen get in with gpa’s like that have pretty good EC’s and wrote some convincing essays. It’s hard to tell what your chances are based solely off of your gpa since the admission counselors apply a holistic selection process to applicants. Right now, I have a 3.92 and I’m also applying for spring 2010, but I’m still trying to build up my EC’s just in case.

Its definitely worth applying. Make your essays sound convincing and criticial as to why NYU is the place for you

dude u have a fighting chance against victory

you can probably get in with a compelling reason.

assuming I were to get into the arts and science school… my intended major is accounting. What does it take/what is it like… trying to get into Stern as an internal transfer?

a hope and prayer.

. . .in reality, stellar grades. like a 3.7+ and even then, it’s not definite. NYU knows that people will try to transfer internally, so they make it extremely selective to go from CAS to Stern.

Unfortunately you CANNOT internally transfer to stern after transferring to CAS ( explicitly stated on the website).

What you can do is stay in cas and take some accounting classes though your major will stil be a cas major (like econ).
