This may be a silly question but I have to ask. I am applying to NYU and was wondering what my chances (if any) would be. I had a 2.0 gpa in high school but have made up for it in college with 58 credits and a 3.75 gpa (the last 3 semesters with 46 credits and a 4.0 gpa). Can anyone tell me what my chances might be of acceptance with my poor high school grades?

Which school are you applying to?

Stern. Finance or Management Major

I have a sneaking suspicion that he's applying to NYU.

I haven't looked at NYU myself, but all the other private schools I've looked at seem to weigh lightly on your high school grades after you've crossed the 60 unit threshold.

comm. sybbie meant what school at NYU.

you have a fair chance as a junior transfer, though your hs grades certainly wont help. stern is the hardest school at NYU to transfer into though. go for it, youre certainly in the range.

PS: whats your current school? NYU is very generous with community college transfers.

Thanks for the post and I hope you're right Northrams. Have some CC credits but attending a good 3rd tier (usnews) private university on Long Island right now.

Fair chance? Would you say 50/50 or 20/80?

What does everyone else think? Any comments or advice is appreciated.

Northrams, how do you know that NYU is very generous with community college transfers?

because im at one in NY right now and youre practically guaranteed entrance if you have over a 3.6 gpa. its not quite that easy for other cc's, because we have an articulation agreement at my school, but they have this program called CCTOP (community college transfer opportunity) which makes admission easier and gives good financial aid for cc students recommended by faculty at their school for the program.

and as for odds, id say 40/60 for NYU, but since its stern id have to give you around 20/80, which isnt really all that bad. good luck, and make sure you nail the essay, as thats often the difference
