Bright Future Questions

Hey everyone,

I had a few pertinent questions about bright futures and was looking for some answers.

Going into Fall 2016, (freshman year) I had the highest tier of bright futures. However, my GPA was fairly poor and amounted to only a 2.8 after the Fall semester concluded; Thus, my bright futures tier dropped from the first to the second tier. After adjusting to college, and getting better at budgeting time and what not, I raised my GPA to a 3.3. Does this mean that I re-acquire the top tier of bright futures? I surely hope so considering bright futures now covers 100% of tuition.

I don’t think so. You’d have had to appeal the loss of the higher level when it happened. Students who receive the second level do not move to the top level if they do better in college. Those who lose it entirely don’t regain it with better grades once it is gone.

But call the BF office and ask. They are very helpful.

Actually, I just reviewed the rules in the bright futures handbook more thoroughly and discovered that the GPA requirement is cumulative for the entire year, not by semester, so I’m fairly certain I’ve maintained the highest Bright Futures tier.
