Bright Futures problems

The Florida Shines website updated and my GPA was calculated incorrectly. Two classes I took in my senior year, which were both honors classes, were calculated as regular courses. I was also under the impression that the state uses the highest grades available for a subject if there are more than the required (I graduated with five credits in English) but the C I got in AP Language stayed instead of being replaced by the A from another English credit.

My school didn’t list either of the classes that were calculated incorrectly on my transcript as honors courses, but I am 100% sure that they were. One of the classes was taken on FLVS and the other is an English class. The school I attended only offered English classes in honors or AP.

My GPA is at a 3.48 how it’s calculated now, I just need a 3.5. I’ve already e-mailed my guidance counselor but I’m still freaking out, and the Bright Futures office is closed.

You need to get it straightened out. I had to contact BF because my daughter’s school wasn’t showing her as receiving an award. The BF people were really nice and found daughter’s name on the ‘master list’ and it was her school’s issue (and just one of many with her file). I was panicking, but the BF people were nice.

@twoinanddone Thank you so much for replying. I’m planning on calling them as soon as the office opens tomorrow morning.

My guidance counselor has contacted the school registrar to make sure the courses are honors. Since my final transcript was already submitted they would have to resend the transcript.
