so here is my dilemma, i am currently attending a community college for fall but will be attending FSU come spring. i got 100% bright futures out of high school although for the CC i couldve gotten 75% and been fine. when i go to FSU i will have 100% which is fine.

my question is, my grades this semester arent great and i will probably be getting a C in one of my classes. will i only get 75% for my spring smester at FSU??? i heard that BF only calculates gpa at the end of each spring term so that means i have spring to make it up, can anyone chime in? im super worrried.

Bright Futures evaluates your cumulative GPA at the end of the Spring Semester.
If you take classes in the Summer and are able to raise your GPA, they can re-evaluate it again.

thank you cybermom.

next question, im transferring into fsu as a chemistry major, and yes, im struggling in chemistry at the moment. if im lucky ill pass with a B, if not with a C. my professor told me that schools dont like C's but they cant reject you for them. anybody know anything about this regarding FSU???

Are you saying you have already been accepted as a transfer and now you have a "C" in chemistry and you are worried your acceptance would be rescinded?

If you had a "D" or "F" I would be concerned but I would think a "C" should be okay.
It sounds like you have over a 2.75 GPA to retain the 75% scholarship. Will you have your associates degree?

cybermom, i will not have my AA, i am somewhat of a special case i guess you could say. i was accepted for fall straight out of high school but waited too long to make a decision as to where i wanted to go. i went to 5 orientation to put my confusion into perspective. anyways, i went to tallahassee and talked to the dean of admissions. i got accepted as a lower transfer without them even seeing my first semester grades of college. i will prolly get 1 A, 3 B's, and that C in chemistry. im just wondering if they can tell me no right before spring semester starts?

That sounds like you could have a 3.0 if the number of credits (usually 3 per course) are equal for each class which should be fine for both admission and retaining the 100% BF scholarship. You could call admissions to put your mind at ease.

FYI-- FSU does use +/- grades at the professor's discretion for their GPA calculation except there is no A+. So you get +.25 weighting for a plus grade and -.25 for a minus grade. For example B+ is 3.25 and B is 3.0 and B- is 2.75. Professors decide if they will grade using + or - and what percentage is required for each grade differentiation.
