Bring a fan?

I really have no idea what california weather is going to be like.. I live in the south which is pretty hot but everywhere here has an airconditioner...

I'm guessing So cal would be pretty hot... Can anybody describe the weather and whether I would need to buy an electric fan for the room or not?

I would recommend bringing a fan, although it rarely gets scorching hot here in LA. A fan will do you well though, especially during Summer when we sometimes get around 100 degrees. The weather lately is unpredictable, as sometimes it rains one day, and the next it is around 80 degrees. However, the weather is always pretty nice, around 75, so you do not have to worry about bringing a big jacket or anything. Sweaters and jeans will most likely work for all types of weather. Be sure to have an umbrella as you never know when it will rain. Overall, a t-shirt and jeans will have you pretty much set for the year. You do not have to worry about snow or anything, just expect heavy rain at times, especially during winter. We do not have a major change of seasons, as it is either raining and cold or sunny and regular temperature. I hope I helped a little

I'm sure that it would be pleasant with an electric fan or even a mini desktop fan, especially during the scortching-hot days. Fortunately, finding one in a city as big as LA is no problem.

Thanx Gaucho8 and dragon17. I will be missing the occasional snow I used to receive.. how sad.

Bring a fan if you live in a non-air conditioned dorm...which is pretty much most of them. I think the only A/C bldgs are Parkside Suites and Radisson...correct me if I'm wrong.

uyulove, you won't be missing any snow. We have Mt. High nearby (and Bear Mountain) so you can always go skiing/snowboarding during the winter.

Yup I agree with dragon because I go to the mountains to see the snow quite a bit and it is not really a long drive. If you ever miss the snow you can always drive up a mountain! Since we have been receiving a lot of rain this year, the mountains are covered with snow and I know of a lot of people who go snowboarding every weekend. USC is nice because you can choose to either drive a bit and see the ocean, or drive a bit and see the snow.

Correction to redski, Century has A/C, I think Cardinal Gardens does as well.

oops, forgot about the apartments...you're right, thx jessetfan!

A fan will be neecssary in late August through September, which I believe are the hottest times of the year in LA.
