Bringing a car to WUSTL?

If I get in to WUSTL ED (hopefully!), I'll have to decide whether to bring my car there with me. I'm leaning toward not bringing it after seeing everything in such close proximity to the campus and hearing of the public transportation. However, I was wondering if any of the current students wished/are glad that they had/hadn't brought their car? Thanks

Freshmen can’t bring cars.

You’re thinking waaaay ahead of yourself. If you get in, see how freshmen year goes first.

As ravn says, freshmen can’t bring cars (unless you sneak around that, which is possible…).
There’s certainly no “need” for a car, but I personally really like having mine (especially now that I’m living off campus and need to get groceries twice a month.

WUSTL also has the WeCar program (through Enterprise) where you can rent a car for an hour or two. D used it to move from one side of campus to the other after summer school this year. Worked out well. http://parking.wustl.edu/wecar.htm

As a freshman with a car (my brother is a sophomore), it is definitely nice to have. While the public transportation is really good, it is just nicer to have your own way of getting to schnucks, target, etc. and you aren’t limited by how much you can carry back. If you don’t have a way of getting a parking pass, you can find side streets near campus that allow you to park a car overnight, but I personally wouldn’t like leaving my car on a random side street for days at a time.

I can’t speak for how useful the WeCar is, but it seems really easy to reserve one. I don’t think you have to refill the gas either, everything is included in one charge.

Thanks everybody for the information. Even if I won’t be able to apply it next year, it is still nice to know for future reference in the case I get accepted.
