what is everyone doing as far as bringing a car? most of my friends that already go there dont have one and they have relatively no complaints

I'm bringing my car, hopfully I'm lucky enough to get issued a parking permit. If not, im assed out haha. I'm bringing it because I need to take my little sister ( incoming freshmen ) in the fall and simply knowing I have the freedom to travel if I wanted. I bet I won't be using it much though

Do any specific dorm or on-campus apartment have guaranteed parking for their residents?

i believe that FT has more than enough parking for its residence

I need to bring my car because the lease is under my name, and no one would take it over.... and family lives lie 4 hours away.... I hope I get a spot... When can you sign up for a permit? Is it based on who turns in papers first? Or do they read about your situation? THANK YOU!

I believe they start August 1st

I go to UCSB, and it's really convenient to have a car, but you don't really need one. I didn't have one my freshman year while I was in the dorms and it was fine. Other people will bring their cars and are nice enough to give rides, the bus is also pretty good. If you're a first year, I think you'll find that you don't leave campus/IV much, and everything is walking distance.

yeah i heard freshman don't really need cars or even most people. I guess people can give rides if you need to make a trip to costco to buy stuff?
