Can you bring a car to UCSB even if you're not in FT?

Like if you're in anacapa or Santa Catalina are you allowed to bring a car? If you are how difficult is it and is it hard to find parking?

Also how do you register to bing a car/when do you have to do it by? Thanks!

You are allowed but I heard that it’s more expensive for the on campus dorms because of the limited space! Not sure how hard it is to find a space. I think you register your car after you find out where you’re living! :)

there’s no reason to bring a car to SB…the gas is very expensive here…you can go anywhere that matters by walking, biking, or riding the bus

from a visitor’s standpoint (im an imcoming freshman and i live in the local area), parking is a PITA…the passes/permits arent worth your money

I’m personally bringing my car not to drive so much locally but to go home every so often. It’s a lot more convenient than having my parents pick me up and stuff. and I’m sure having a car in some situations will be beneficial!

i want to bring a car so i can easily drive home/visit my friends in LA & SLO. if i’m on an on campus dorm will it be harder for me to get a permit? are only a few people able to get them?

yes i think it is harder but i dont think only a “few” people get them. i’d try calling the housing people to be sure :)

I’ve never heard of anyone who wanted a parking spot not get one. I lived in on-campus dorms.
