is it recommended to bring your own fan to the dorm? and also bringing your own printer?

Yes, most people recommend having fans in your dorm. Not only are they good for hot days, but apparently the white noise can be soothing. Also they’re good for circulating air in your room so it doesn’t get too stuffy. I’m sure you could find a fan at a target in the area, but it might be inconvenient to bring it back to campus.

If you have a printer you may as well bring it. If you’re planning on being an English major or another major that will require you to write a lot of papers you probably should. There are other printers available on campus but they don’t have the convenience of being available in your room at 3am. Also some schools have quotas on how many pages you can print per week. If you choose not to bring a printer, at least bring a pack of paper so when you borrow other people’s printers you provide your own paper.

You don’t need to bring a printer (I write papers weekly). You can print an unlimited amount at the dorm computers – you just need to supply your own paper. In my 3 years at the school, I have never brought a printer. We are also “given” a certain amount of money from the school to be able to print in the library. legendairy’s advice is good, but not entirely applicable.

YES!! Bring a fan.

Number One: YES BRING A FAN!!! MHC rooms can get UNBEARABLY hot and stuffy during the first and last 2 weeks of the school year, especially if you live on a higher floor!

Number Two: Agreed with polyglotism, you don’t neccessarily need a printer, but I’ve always found it handy. The dorm printers can be a little unreliable and slow to have ink replaced, and your printing allowance for the library printers runs out FAST if you’re a humanities/social sciences major! If you have one, go ahead and bring it. If you can afford it, buy an inexpensive inkjet. If you can’t get a hold of one, don’t sweat it, the school resources will work in a pinch!
