bringing clothes

ive looked over the other threads and it says a lot of clothes, some who say more is better than less. but im also wondering how much space you have. i dont want to have to bring a lot of clothes then keep half of them in my car the whole semester or something...

clothing is the one thing i'm definitely running out of space for (especially with sweatshirts/sweaters in the good old northeast :) ), and i don't consider myself as one who has a huge wardrobe. suggestion: buy extra, under-the bed storage!

well how much space do most students get?

I'm at a community college whose dorms are like jails but I must say, space isnt an issue for us. We get a full dresser with 5 drawers, About a 4 foot wide 3 foot deep closet and a little "treasure chest" like thing that you can move your mattress and store things inside the bed frame. I've visited places whove had more and places whove had less. It all depends really.

If you're planning to drive home on breaks and such, you don't necessarily need to bring a whole year's wardrobe with you. Since I'm in the South, obviously it's pretty warm now, so I just took all my coats/sweatshirts/etc. home with me at Easter and just have warm-weather clothes that I need to get through the last few weeks. Likewise at fall break, I took home all my summery clothes...etc.

We also have a decent amount of storage in our room - a good-sized dresser and two decent-sized closets, so I haven't really needed any extra storage. I'm sure people probably buy those plastic drawer sets to store stuff in and I've even heard of people using those space saver bags that you use a vacuum on to suck all the air out.
