Hello! I have a question regarding British Columbia’s grading system. Based on what I am reading…a 90-100 is an A+ (4.33), 86-89 is an A (4.0), etc. Obviously the percentages are the same as the United States system, but what about the GPA? For example, I have approximately a 3.4 in the US system. A 3.4 is all the way down at the 77% mark according to BC. But in the US, it is equal to approximately an average of 88%. So going off my percentage…do I have a 4.2 or 3.4 in the BC system?
Sorry for the confusing message. To make it simpler…
I have a 3.4 in the US system. What does that translate to in the British Columbia grading system?
Thank you!
That’s the wrong way to convert. They will look at the your 3.4 GPA in relation to other students in your school/district/state. This is why your SAT or ACT is important. The standardized tests make it easier to compare you to other international students.
Ok that is good to know. As an international student I was worried I could somehow get screwed.
Does anyone know approximately what UBC’s ACT average scores are? I know they don’t report them…
Minimum of 26, but it depends on which program you are applying for. If it’s math, science or business related, they’re looking for 28-30+. Canadian school admissions deal in cutoff scores, not averages.
I see. Thanks for the info!
